Air Replacement Bus in operation until further notice...
Riyadh Air can't fly from Riyadh right now.
The airport has been closed since a Houthi attack in early October, so starting today, its flights to London, Cairo, Jeddah, Dhaka, Lahore, and Islamabad leave from Al Qassim, 4.5 hours away by bus.
You check in at a Riyadh hotel, drop your bags, and ride a free coach across the desert. For a 6pm flight, check-in opens at 9:45am.
Saudia is doing the same thing. It's a brutal test for a new airline.

ALT Map of central Saudi Arabia. A dark line follows the 371 km highway from Riyadh, where passengers check in at a hotel, north-west to Al Qassim airport (ELQ) in Buraydah. The free coach takes 4 hours 30 minutes each way. Riyadh airport (RUH) is marked closed with a red X. Photos show the Al Qassim terminal and the Riyadh terminal. An inset shows Riyadh Air's whole network: London, Cairo, Jeddah, Islamabad, Lahore, and Dhaka in purple, moved to Al Qassim, and Manchester, Madrid, Milan, Dubai, Mumbai, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Manila in gray, not in the plan.

Everyone else in Amex Lounges is a low class reject.
Not you, though. The $895 you paid made you more special.
I’m done with @AmericanExpress platinum card. It was worth $900 a year when you could get into lounges with it. There was some exclusivity.
Now every low class reject gets in. An hour waitlist and then when you finally get in, it’s people on speakerphone, screaming, acting like it’s a Carnival cruise.
Amex has been enshittified. I’ll save my 895 bucks a year.

🇫🇮 Finnair's platinum wing is a literal first class lounge, even without the airline having a first class cabin. It goes without saying, I needed to add the sauna experience at the airport. This is probably my favorite airport lounge in Europe.

This bullshit project from Herts County Council isn’t about connectivity: it’s about cost cutting. This crap needs to be challenged. “Trackless trams” are not trams: they’re BUSES. Bouncing bendy buses stuck halfway in traffic; and take away tracks & you take away fixed links.

No other industry is showcasing the K-shaped economy like the airline industry. All carriers are offering better and better premium options for the people that can afford them while squeezing the people that can't by giving them less for more.
It's "premium, premium, premium" in the airline industry right now, and Delta is the latest to level up in business class with:
-next gen Delta One Suites starting early next year
-Refreshed menus with wagyu burgers, sea bass & new desserts
-All new tableware
-Pricier wines and Blanton's single barrel bourbon
-More meal customization - but no dine-on-demand
