Today we’re introducing Aether @aetherruntime.
The fastest cloud coding agents in the world that you can use with your existing subscription
Give it a task and just 20 seconds later your build is running on its own cloud machine. You can pick up from your phone, watch every line, and step in whenever you want as if it was local. Close the laptop. It keeps going.
It runs Claude Code or Codex on the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already pay for so there’s not a 2nd AI bill. You only pay for the machine.
When it’s done, if code review is enabled, a reviewer agent runs the code with the changes, which catches classes of bugs that can't be found from static analysis.
Before building Aether I built infra at Apple, Uber, and HeyGen. I built Aether because the cloud agents I tried before all had drawbacks, and I couldn't imagine building something without it now.
It’s free to start. runaether.dev
we made aether even faster💪🏽
now over 6x faster to a working dev stack than Conductor Cloud and almost 3x the speed of Replicas

literally just launched and mfs are already using our free plan to mine crypto
@thsottiaux bro I finally get why u removed the feature on codex to let agents keep running after usage ran out people don't deserve nice things smh
you can build anything running cloud agents on @aetherruntime

some pics from the halloween hh we hosted for our contributors
the decorations were such a hit that the team still won’t let me take them down 😂 i gotta get some christmas decor ordered ASAP.
thank to everyone who joined us and I promise after this, I will retire all of the 🎃 emojis until next year 👻
looking at competitors pricing for cloud workspaces I don't understand how people are paying $200 for a few hours of cloud workspaces
my workflow is fully in the cloud and I'm often running 20+ agents in parallel, I easily go through thousands of hours a month
@aetherruntime gives you 800 hours of time on our default VM size for $120 a month and provides the most powerful VMs of any cloud agent
Aether ranks first for cold-start speed (19.4s median to running stack vs Replicas 31.9s and Conductor 73.5s on the public bench), live steer/SSH visibility, Firecracker isolation, and pure compute pricing on your existing Claude/ChatGPT sub.
Replicas second: more mature integrations (Slack/Linear/GitHub), broader harness support, solid team analytics and configurable environments.
Conductor Cloud last—joining Meta and shutting down by Nov 20, so not viable long-term.

Part of building Tensorlake the past few months has been working with users at the frontier and the founders we get to partner with!
Our small team works extremely hard to keep on innovating and pushing reliability and what people can do with sandboxes every week.
Replying to @diptanu @tensorlake
the fastest cloud agent needs the fastest sandboxes💪🏽 thanks for your support Diptanu, and thanks for building such a great product!!
there couldn't be a better day to run your cloud agents on @aetherruntime!! huge congrats to the Conductor team on building an amazing product, can't wait to see what happens next!!
I am very excited to share that Conductor is joining Meta!
We have some big, crazy plans for the next interface. If you liked Conductor, you’re gonna love what’s coming.
We’re super excited to work with @natfriedman and @alexandr_wang at MSL to build it. They’ve been on an absolute tear, and I’m convinced MSL has the highest talent density of all the labs.
A huge thank you to our earliest believers @aaron_epstein, @ilyasu, and @nabeel. And to everyone here who tried Conductor, sent us feedback, and prompt requests - you made this so much fun. Thank you ❤️🚂
Choo choo!
PRs get a VM that runs your app, not just the diff.
On Greptile's public benchmark of 50 real bugs, it caught 42 (84%), higher than any other code review tool.
(Aether uses more tokens but is still significantly cheaper if using a subscription)

made it to the final round for a Growth Engineer role at Anthropic in 2024
this tweet almost made me crash out
Who actually gets rich if Anthropic lists at $2 trillion?
The S-1 filed on Monday lets us answer from the filing itself.
The reported target is $1.5T to $2T, listing the week of November 16. The filing implies about 16.9B fully diluted shares. So $2T works out to roughly $118 a share.
The cap table at $2T:
- $199B for the 7 controlling co-founders, about 10%
- $28B for Ben Mann, if his stake matches theirs
- $100B for the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, 5%
- $331B in employee options and RSUs, about 17% , That pool covers about 5,300 employees, an average of $62M each.
- But when you joined matters enormously.
The S-1 shows how much equity was granted each year, and at what price. [
Headcount went from about 300 to 500 in late 2023, to 940 at end 2024, to 5,300 now.
Match the two, and here is roughly how many people made what at $2T:
- $110M to $400M each: ~300 to 500 people hired by 2023
- $200M to $300M each: ~440 to 640 hired in 2024
- $70M to $95M each: ~1,360 hired in 2025
- $10M to $20M each: ~3,000 hired in 2026
So about 940 people hired by the end of 2024 average nine figures. Everyone hired since averages eight figures.
The 2024 class is the surprise. That year Anthropic granted 1.28B options at $1.30 a share. At $118, that one year of grants is worth about $133B.
Then there is the tender. In April, holders could sell at $25.91 a share. Investors lined up $6B, but only $4.7B sold.
Weeks later, Series H priced at $58.90 a share. At $2T, the people who held would be up 4.6x. And Dario and Daniela Amodei were among the sellers.
The 7 founders have pledged 80% of their equity to charity. That is about $159B at $2T. But the S-1 says the pledges are not legally binding.
