Happy statehood day Arizona! Showing my love for AZ by filing today to run for state Senate in Tucson's new LD18 - because we need a mom, enviro lawyer + voting rights advocate in the #AZLeg
See @priya4az + visit priyaforarizona.com to help me qualify for the ballot!

Anyway here is how the ballot looks, so let's all decide together whether this is an "egregious attack" on voters who all, I assume, have eyeballs:

This is how the candidates are listed on Alaska's ballots. It's clearly marked, which one is the GOP candidate and which one is just a guy
NEW: DOJ is suing to prevent Alaska from certifying its election results until the state investigates whether the other "Dan Sullivan" on the ballot created "voter confusion" to the detriment of incumbent GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan.

PRESS RELEASE: Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes addresses targeted threat at Executive Tower

Today, the Executive Tower was evacuated after a Hazardous Materials Incident. I'm glad that there are no reported injuries at this time and thankful to the first responders for their swift action.
Threats against our hard-working public servants are unacceptable. Anybody responsible for threatening or intimidating elections officials should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

I’m heartbroken to learn that nine people were shot early this morning in downtown Tucson.
Too many lives have been changed forever because of America’s gun violence crisis, in my hometown and across the nation. Mark and I are grateful for the bravery of Tucson’s first responders as we await more information and hold all those impacted in our hearts.

The irony of Trump calling FIFA to overturn
a red card for Balogun because he knows the U.S. can’t win without Balogun, who only qualifies for the U.S. team because of birthright citizenship, which Trump just tried to overturn.

Cornyn: “I don’t understand how the SAVE Act disenfranchises voters.”
Durbin: “Driver’s licenses don’t qualify. 50% of Americans don’t have passports.”
Cornyn: “Why not just amend it?”
Durbin: “When’s the last time the Senate actually amended a bill?”
Silence.
The SAVE Act requires passport-level documentation to register to vote.
50% of Americans don’t have a passport.
The people least likely to have one: the elderly, the poor, rural Americans, young first-time voters.
The people most likely to have one: wealthy Americans..

No surprise. After Trump failed to reimburse Florida for Alligator Alcatraz, the state is now moving to shut it down.
Nearly a billion dollars of taxpayer money.
Inhumane conditions.
Environmental travesty.
Ron DeSantis built this. Branded it. Gave no bid contracts to his buddies. Threw a party to celebrate it. Now he wants to quietly shut it down and hope no one notices.
We notice.
And every official who let it happen will answer for it.

Huge congratulations to Arizona’s own @SenMarkKelly for being named @TIME Most Influential People.
Senator Kelly has dedicated his life to serving his country. He’s been a fighter for Arizona in the Senate and I know he’ll continue being a champion for our state.

Today, I promised to veto all bills that come to my desk and again invited legislative Republicans to show their budget plans to the people of this state. I’m ready to talk, but I can’t negotiate with politicians who refuse to show the public their plans.
The legislative majority needs to put forward their budget proposal and then join me in good faith negotiations so we can pass a bipartisan, balanced budget like we’ve done the past three years.

Two things Donald Trump ran on:
Lowering costs on day one.
No new wars.
So far, he's 0 for 2.

The order is deeply, deeply unserious.
Remove the constitutionality question for a moment.
An example: It wants all ballots cast ballots with a unique identifier thereby negating the secret ballot principle.
But even if you remove that, this paper is extremely expensive and untested (Mark Finchem wanted Arizona to use it.) There is a very high chance that most tabulators would not even be able to read these ballots.
Just one example in a very, very, long line of examples of how problematic this is.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Democracy Docket has obtained a draft of the executive order being circulated with the White House that would allow Trump to take unprecedented control over voting.
Legal experts called the order blatantly unconstitutional. Read the full, 17-page order below👇 bit.ly/4l0gmXp

Wow wow wow wow.

Note the Senator leaving out the double doors as the moment of silence for Rev. Jesse Jackson begins.
It’s Senator Hoffman.
That was yesterday.
Today, he asked that the Senate pass two bills to honor Charlie Kirk. While he asked for respect for his friend, he showed little for a pillar of the Civil Rights movement who was a friend of many.

Today, the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding: the ruling that served as the basis for limits on tailpipe emissions and power plant rules. Without it, we’ll be less safe, less healthy and less able to fight climate change — all so the fossil fuel industry can make even more money.
