When you hit 38, your idea of a perfect Sunday afternoon changes completely.
A nicely prepared homemade lunch, a good afternoon nap and absolutely no plans for the rest of the day.
You develop a serious intolerance for noisy neighbours, unnecessarily loud music and people who mistake residential apartments for entertainment venues.
You just want to eat, sleep and enjoy some peace. Is that too much to ask?

KRA has collected KSh1 trillion in four months. To hit its annual target, it now needs a better month than October, every month until June.
The numbers, from KRA's July to October figures:
Collected so far: KSh1.010 trillion
Full-year target: KSh3.268 trillion
Still needed: about KSh2.26 trillion over eight months
Required pace: about KSh282 billion a month
October: KSh260.6 billion
October was strong. Corporation tax came in 19% above target. Customs had its best month on record. Excise grew 54%, led by wine and spirits (up 111%) and tobacco (up 94%).
Even so, at October's pace KRA would end the year about KSh173 billion short, according to analysis by Techweez.
One more piece of context: inflation reached 7.3% in October. Higher prices raise tax receipts in shilling terms, so strong collections are not the same thing as a stronger economy.
Where should the extra KSh20 billion a month come from: better compliance, a wider tax base, or less spending?

🇸🇻🇭🇹El Salvador Update:
I attached a map of the situation in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area and the Cul-de-Sac Plain. The map is far from being complete, but I've already added the spheres of influence of the gangs directly or indirectly clashing with the Salvadoran Army and the Gang Suppression Force.
- El Salvador's base of operations is near the American embassy in Port-au-Prince, along with the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, which serves as a logistical hub for 2,500 Salvadoran forces.
- Patrols started on October 30th in the Clercine area and Tabarre urban commune, located near the airport. By November 2nd El Salvador conducted an armored advance with the Haitian National Police and the GSF into the plain northeast of Port-au-Prince. Key neighborhoods include Santo (where the initial ambush on 4 Salvadoran aircraft technicians took place), Croix-des-Missions, and Carrefour Shada.
- Haitian police recovered the charred armored vehicle that carried the 4 technicians in the Santo neighborhood. On November 3rd Salvadoran MD 500 helicopters repelled a gang attack (likely carried out by 400 Mawozo) on a Chadian GSF convoy in Croix-des-Bouquets.
- On November 5th a joint Salvadoran/Haitian operation killed Mathias Saintil in a drone strike in the Boston neighborhood of the Cité Soleil. He was the head of the Nan Boston gang which operates on the coast north of Port-au-Prince.
Zone of operations key:
Yellow = 400 Mawozo
Purple = Canaan Gang
Orange = Chen Machan Gang
Brown = Nan Boston
Blue = Viv Ansanm Coalition
Red = El Salvador
Full details on El Salvador's military buildup in Haiti:
- So far 2,500 personnel deployed, which is more than the entire UN peacekeeping contingent in Haiti. Before this deployment surge there were 124 Salvadoran personnel in Haiti as a part of the UN-approved Gang Suppression Force, largely consisting of medics and aviation technicians.
- Forces involved in the mission include special forces specialized in search-and-resuce operations, marines, an infantry company, logistics, and other support personnel. For now the cap is 2,500, but the number can easily double or reach upwards of 6,000, depending on operational needs.
- 5 Salvadoran MD500E light attack/recon helicopters and 2 Black Hawks were refueled at Fortaleza El Rodeo, a Dominican military installation near the Haitian border in Jimaní. Last year the US transferred 2 UH-1N Twin Hueys to El Salvador for their peacekeeping force.
- El Salvador has deployed dozens of APCs and tactical vehicles, such as the Tygor B7 and Plasan Yagu. Equipment was airlifted on American and Colombian C-130 Hercules aircraft and Boeing 747s, with these aircraft landing at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince.
- The Salvadoran HQ is near the American embassy and they're largely active in the Croix-des-Bouquets commune (east of Port-au-Prince), with an emphasis on the Santo neighborhood. The focus is on weakening the gangs controlling the Cul-de-Sac Plain, including 400 Mawozo and Chèn Mechan.

🇸🇻🇭🇹 Footage of more Salvadorean troops PATROLLING the streets in Haiti
The deployment grew quickly after the incident, with Bukele framing it as a search for his men and a warning to the gangs.
Gangs that previously operated more openly appear to be avoiding direct contact with the Salvadoran units in the areas shown.

A great example of the self-inflicted wounds damaging African countries. A World Bank report estimates that corruption in Kenya adds nearly $3 billion, or the equivalent of 2% GDP, to Kenya's fiscal deficit every single year.
"Kenya's economy could be more than 20 times larger by 2035 if it introduced the sort of anti-corruption reforms seen in countries like Ghana and Senegal, and add 7.7 million more and better jobs."

I think we're done with geriatric politicians now. If you're a Republican politician thinking about running for the presidency in 2028, and you're already over 70 years old, don't waste your energy. We've had Boomer presidents for like 30 years now. Time to give another generation a chance.

MAGA was a spasm of white supremacy and Christian nationalism brought on by the frightening and unbelievable election of a Black man to the presidency. Don’t make any fucking mistake about it. This shit, always in the background, got kicked to life, I’ve always believed, when Obama walked into the White House. MAGA thought they had a movement for the ages. What they had was an angry, lurching, doomed animal. No philosophical or moral legs. Just long-standing entitlement and anger and stupidity. They sent it all Into their echo chamber and out…came nothing……..

1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
These are all the same thing. The cost of living is high because Israel convinced Trump to start a war with Iran, instead of putting America first.
