Stupid enough to know that we passed a constitutional amendment that prevents a state income tax in 2019 by popular vote. This makes this GOP talking point incredibly idiotic and completely on brand for really dumb people to tweet.
If you live in Texas - and are voting for Talarico - You are paying no income tax right now. Why in God's name would you vote for someone who wants to you to pay state income tax?? How fucking stupid are you people?

This is wild. Georgetown, Texas has their own version of Mitch McConnell.
In #TX31, Rep. John Carter is 84-years-old and seeking a 13th term in office. After he gave a barely coherent interview with @KUT Austin, I decided to publish my interview with Dale Ross, fmr GOP mayor of Georgetown, TX. He said Carter has been suffering from the early stages of dementia, and it's basically been an open secret down there. "You hear stuff about slurred speech and things like that. But he just likes being a congressman. It’s like a Mitch McConnell thing.”

You ever tour the damage after a Texas tornado? Some things are wiped out and some things are inexplicably still standing. Could be like that today. Happy Election Day, y'all.

Elections have consequences. Texans can choose a new governor tomorrow. @GinaHinojosaTX #Texas
Some young people seeking nominations for our US Military Academies who live in Texas’ 23rd Congressional have reached out to my office asking to be considered for nomination. However, I am only allowed to nominate students residing within the 20th Congressional District. Because Governor Greg Abbott failed to schedule an election to replace Congressman Tony Gonzalez, these aspiring cadets have no member of Congress to nominate them for an academy appointment. They may still apply through the Texas US Senate offices but the most common and achievable route to nomination is unavailable to them because of the Governor’s delay. The deadline to submit to our office is November 13th at 6 PM CT.

Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls. That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching. I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee. Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

I like to solve problems for less money, and I have the record to prove it. As your comptroller, I will follow the LAW, I will follow the MONEY, and I will make sure that you know exactly what you’re getting for your tax dollars. Election Day is TOMORROW, Nov 3 from 7AM to 7PM.

Media heading to Travis instead of Harris County to cover Texas election outcomes are making a huge mistake.

7th grade Texas history class is a real thing. IYKYK. This is a classic "tell me you're not from Texas without telling me you're not from Texas."
Sometimes I remember Ken Paxton didn’t take seventh-grade Texas history because he’s not from here. Like when he announced he’d conclude his “Come and Take It” tour at the Alamo, a place where the Mexican army did, in fact, come and take it.

Early voting is over in Harris County: 1,081,010 ballots, 50% more than 2022. The biggest midterm early vote the county has ever had, and on track for about 1.35 million once Tuesday is counted. 2018’s record was 1.22 million. Here’s why it was big, and who did it.

I’m very much enjoying a whole new audience discovering @dieworkwear.
This is the most covertly brutal takedown/endorsement I’ve seen this cycle. There’s a common tag in ATL at the moment… Vote your Ossoff.

Don’t wait until Tuesday when it’s supposed to be storming to vote, Texans. If what happened to Ms. Hinojosa happens to you, you may not have the time to deal with it. Polls are open until 7 p.m. tonight. #Texas #vote

One more day to early vote, Harris County. @TravisABC13 tells us we have about a 70% chance of rain on Election Day. Vote tomorrow from 7–7. Get it done! 🗳️💙🙌🏻 #houston #Texas #Vote
Records are falling. Harris County TX officially has more early votes in this midterm than any previous midterm in history and that's before we even tally the numbers from Thursday and Friday. Good chance we hit 1M early votes by Fri night. Bravo Harris County voters

The Abbott ads attacking Gina Hinojosa are so misleading and deceptive. The idea that Hinojosa could impose a state income tax is ridiculous or that she is for open borders is a fantasy. Abbott’s attacks on teachers and public schools during his rallies at private schools for vouchers were disgusting. He has shown he will say anything or do anything to hold on to power. It is amazing that Hinojosa is so close to him in polling given his 8 to 1 advantage in campaign funds. With Abbott follow the money including the millions he has received from developers of data centers.

Let me get this straight. @GregAbbott_TX gives $2B in tax breaks to his largest campaign donor Musk, then appoints his hand-picked comptroller to administer & oversee compliance of those incentives, who also has financial stake in Musk’s companies. They really are selling Texas

I just don’t understand why this continues to be a talking point for Texas Republicans. This doesn’t happen. Anywhere. Ever. Obviously some Texans must believe this nonsense, but for the overwhelming majority of us, it insults our intelligence.
Abbott: And I care about our children. I don't want to see them transgendered at school.
