One very cool thing @VikkiGoodwinTX could do as Lt Gov and President of the Senate — arguably most influential office in Texas government — would be to let the press corps back on the Senate floor this upcoming session

Tonight, I make a solemn promise to every single Texan. Whether you voted for me or Governor Abbott, or felt so betrayed by a broken politics that you did not vote at all.
Hear what Texas said today, loud and clear: Your government belongs to you. And as your governor, I will never forget it. There will be no special set of rules for the wealthy and powerful. No looking the other way when someone in my own party does wrong.
The trust you have placed in me tonight is not a blank check. It is a sacred responsibility. And I intend to earn it every single day.

The voters have spoken, and I want to extend my congratulations to James Talarico on his election to the U.S. Senate. I look forward to meeting him and offering my assistance with his transition as he prepares to serve Texans in the U.S. Senate.

F*ck you. We’re taking our country back.

🚨Another record broken🚨
More people have voted in the midterm election in Harris County (Houston) than in any previous midterm in history.
With over 184K votes so far today, we are over 1.27M total votes. That is more than the previous record in 2018 even before a post 5 pm rush that always happens.

Stupid enough to know that we passed a constitutional amendment that prevents a state income tax in 2019 by popular vote.
This makes this GOP talking point incredibly idiotic and completely on brand for really dumb people to tweet.
If you live in Texas - and are voting for Talarico - You are paying no income tax right now. Why in God's name would you vote for someone who wants to you to pay state income tax??
How fucking stupid are you people?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Talarico is running for U.S. Senate, a federal office with no authority over state taxes. Texas has no state income tax (constitutionally prohibited) and Talarico has stated he opposes one.

You ever tour the damage after a Texas tornado? Some things are wiped out and some things are inexplicably still standing.
Could be like that today.
Happy Election Day, y'all.

Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls.
That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching.
I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee.
Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

I like to solve problems for less money, and I have the record to prove it. As your comptroller, I will follow the LAW, I will follow the MONEY, and I will make sure that you know exactly what you’re getting for your tax dollars.

Early voting is over in Harris County: 1,081,010 ballots, 50% more than 2022. The biggest midterm early vote the county has ever had, and on track for about 1.35 million once Tuesday is counted. 2018’s record was 1.22 million.
Here’s why it was big, and who did it.
