The IRS also looted $940,000 from a Navy veteranโs gun store without ever charging him with a crime.
When Andrew Clyde deposited cash under $10,000 because his insurance only covered that amount on hand, the IRS similarly accused him of โstructuringโ and froze the account.
After he spent over $100,000 fighting them, they kept $50,000 in a settlement.
Before that, this IRS tactic targeted 2,500+ cases and pulled more than $242 million between 2005 and 2012.
A 2017 Treasury review later found that in 91% of the seizures they could trace, the money had been earned legally.
Only after Congress passed a law partly named for Clyde did the practice stop, and voters sent him to the House the next year.
The IRS seized a dairy farmerโs $29,500 bank account in 2012 for depositing his own legal cash in the โwrongโ size chunks, never charging him with a crime.
Randy Sowers put farmers market earnings in the bank under $10,000 so heโd avoid all the extra paperwork.
The IRS called it โstructuringโ, took the money in 2012 with no warrant and no trial, and he spent years trying to get it back.
The $10,000 line became a confiscation tool until a lawsuit, a NYT article, and public anger in 2014 made the IRS announce theyโll only chase structuring cases when the source of the money is illegal.
That's not how prices work for anything. Prices are set by market conditions not your expenses or cost basis. If the units can't be rented above expenses that's a reason to sell the property. Having low expenses means you can invest more into the property and set aside reserves because real estate is cyclical. It just means you can hold on through a downturn unlike your leveraged peers
The Labor Theory of Value was refuted more than a century ago. The amount of physical labor to produce a finished product is orthogonal to its value for sale.

If the government could not violate your rights, it wouldn't matter who got elected
Throughout their history they have spread their faith through violence and coercion not through rhetoric or reason. When they come knocking it's not to evangelize it's heavily armed and the choice convert or ๐ that's the pitch

That's the neat part about markets supply and demand always intersects at a price that will clear the market.
Between Boomers dying as time catches up (executators of their estates are more inclined to sell to wrap up the estate) and the long term debt cycle (interest rates aren't going back down any time soon) will both put a ceiling on prices that hasn't been there for a long time.
That doesn't mean that prices are going down anytime soon in nominal terms, but when you consider that the government is trying to liquidate the real value of its debt inflation is also going to eat the value of these houses since the those headwinds impair their use as an inflation hedge.
A corporation can't do violence, abduct, or kill people with impunity. The government however can do just that.
If you don't like a corporation you don't have to buy its products or services. It may be expensive or inconvenient but you can.
Giving a deceptive name to an agency is among the government's favorite ways to lie. Then again journalists are spook adjacent so one could also read this more cynically...

Taxation is theft. As a wage earner you exchange days of your life (the most finite resource of all) for wages that the government takes a rake on before you even get it (payroll taxes).
Similarly as a business the government takes a rake on your sales even on days you're not in profit.
Also your premise that it's free issue stocks or bonds is false. Issuing stock requires diluting the ownership of current owners.
Bonds similarly can't be issued without limit because eventually creditors will demand higher and higher yield that the company won't be able to service.
TLDR the government taking money from you under treat of violence is no different than some thug accosting you on the sidewalk.
Taxes are not "theft."
Negotiable instruments can be manufactured in seconds.
It would be like someone breathing in front of my face then me saying they are "stealing my air." Theft is only possible when finite amounts are present.
If you had a handful of sand and you were at the beach and someone ran up to you and "stole" a bit of the sand in your hand, would you be upset and flip out over how "them taking my sand is theft"?
No, and that's exactly how ridiculous the "taxes are theft" argument is.
It's always harder to sell reality than a fantasy. Leftists will tell you you're suffering and need their authoritarian policies when in fact this is the most comfortable and advanced time in all of human history. In the last century capitalism lifted billions of people out of subsistence poverty, and delivered technology that sci-fi didn't even dream of, but it feels good to pretend to care about people, even if the ideology you're pushing killed and tortured countless people, many through starvation in just part of the 20th century.
1. This is the guy who thought the Internet was a fad.
2. Stealing a private company isn't combating authoritarianism it *is* authoritarianism
3. Starlink isn't a military asset anymore that the Interstate highway system is a "military asset " because they sometimes drive convoys on it.
I use it every day, so do a lot of people in rural areas. That militaries also use it similarly doesn't mean it's a "military asset"
Economist (and Nobel laureate) Paul Krugman: โControl of Starlink must, one way or another, be taken away from Elon Musk. Itโs a matter of national security: we cannot let private individuals make foreign and defense policy, and it would be totally irresponsible to leave a crucial military asset in the hands of a racist, authoritarian conspiracy theorist.โ

The misunderstood villain who's actually just a misunderstood former hero trope was common in the 90s pop culture milieu that gave rise to this story, and also created a lot of the morally ethos of the millennial and X generations that are running things now. To sympathize with the Anakin character is to perpetuate one of underlying cultural diseases of our time. Heroes are important not because normal humans can live up to that standard, but precisely because they usually can't, but having an ideal to judge their own conduct against helps them do better.

When you ever doubt taxation is in fact theft, read this.
Communism is about envy and vengeance, underneath all the pretending to care about poor and working people. And you know it's pretending because of how little they care about the poor and working people in communist regimes.

Imagine if McDonaldโs had to get Burger Kingโs permission before opening a new restaurant.
Thatโs how some occupational licensing and zoning restrictions work.
We let existing businesses help decide whether theyโre allowed to have competitors.
