To a leftist, words don’t matter; corrupting words matters. They would have "democracy" mean diffused rule by unelected people. Anti-social and uncivil, to them you are nothing but a disposable pawn.
Rant: Got last minute travel today, so won't be doing a Democracy Files drop today. But saw that the person at the center of the files posted about "unimaginable horrors." Let me tell you why I got interested in "democracy" in the first place. I've told this story many times, but here again: I was DOGE adjacent from the very beginning. I was recruited by several DOGE teams in January 2025, because I was excited about the opportunity to finally cut spending and taming the national debt. Bu then - Tesla Takedown protests happened. People got so worked up that they were firebombing innocent Tesla owners. A viral website with a Molotov cocktail cursor prominently featured my husband's address. I was doxxed in the middle of that, and forced to flee the state and homeschool my children. That's when I started researching and writing UNELECTED. I quickly found the groups organizing and funding the civil unrest were all about "democracy." It made no sense to me. DOGE wasn't overturning elections. They were cutting obviously silly awards - given our national deficit, who would object to that? Silly me! Turns out "democracy" means diffused rule by unelected people, and all that USAID money going to marginalized groups to build a "civil society" is the foundation of that. So the immune system of "civil unrest" can be activated anytime, and terrorize anyone who dares to step out of line. Such as DOGE employees. Such as me and my family. That research trail led me all the way to DemAID (now DRG), a group of ex-USAID officers. Led by you and Ro Tucci. @iamlisalogan and @SKDoubleDub33 found DemAID on video taking credit for these protests. But this isn't about me. This is about the United States. And about the dozens of countries wrecked by color revolutions. You aren't solving polarization. You are the source of polarization, because in the process of building "civil society," you are displacing people's inborn allegiances and training them up to attack the very foundations a nation are founded upon. Nor is this about revenge or anger. I'm calling on everyone to pray that no more damage is done, and that we can find a path forward that preserves our Constitutional Republic.

Chuck Grassley won't abandon blue slips because GOP Senators don't want him to abandon it. They are of this view for the same reason GOP Senators don't want recess appointments. Senators zealously guard THEIR influence over appointments in THEIR home states. So GOP Sen. XYZ is Ok with allowing the Dem Senators from California holding up nominees in California by not returning a blue slip, because GOP Sen XYZ wants to be able to hold up nominees by the WH is his home state. The fear is that without a blue slip process, a President who has little or not interest in listening to and following the recommendations of Sen. XYZ for district judges or U.S. attorneys back in Sen. XYZ's home state is going to nominate folks that Sen. XYZ does not want in those positions. A good example is Thom Tillis from NC. Completely at odds with Pres. Trump. If he didn't have a blue slip veto for nominees in NC, Pres. Trump could name whoever he wanted in NC even if the persons he chose were nowhere on a list of potential selections submitted by Tillis. THAT is why the blue slip tradition exists, and THAT is why there have been no recess appointments. You don't have to like it -- but the Senate has its priorities just like the White House.
Replying to @shipwreckedcrew
"blue slips" is not in the Constitution.

No matter how many times they invoke “democracy” lawfare is about replacing bottom-up governance with old-style top-down rule.
Brazil is a preview of what happens when the lawfare machine is allowed to run to its logical conclusion, which is de facto one party rule, all while preserving the illusion of democracy. For years, there has been relentless lawfare in Brazil, especially against the Bolsonaro family, along with an assassination attempt and massive manipulation of and by the courts. The point was always to take conservatives off the playing field and establish a permanent grip on power. That is the endgame of lawfare, and it is happening in America as well. It’s just that many people still don’t see it or where it all leads. Lawfare is no more about the Bolsonaros than it is about Trump. It’s about one party rule.

Here's the deal. The STATUTE involving filling vacancies SPECIFICALLY as to U.S. Attorneys is difficult to reconcile with the concept of Executive control of the federal work force under Article II. They seem incompatible, but the statute on its fact leads to the conclusion that Judges are drawing with respect to the ability of POTUS to simply name "Acting" U.S. Attorneys for whatever period he wants. Blame the outcome on the statute and how Congress drafted it. Judge Michael Seabright is NOT an "activist judge." Save that description for instances when it actually applies. Quit acting butthurt over every decision that isn't 100% in the direction of the outcome you want. The statute leads to the outcomes in all these cases. The statute has to be changed or SCOTUS has to say it is beyond the authority of Congress to give an inferior officer the prosecutorial power of the Executive AND give the Judicial Branch the authority to appoint that inferior officer in contravention of the wishes of the Executive.

Bill Essayli is the top federal prosecutor in Los Angeles and one of the few officials actually looking at California’s election systems. On Tuesday an activist judge disqualified him from two cases because Democrats don’t want him operating in the state. Instead of answering the questions his office is raising, California is trying to limit his authority. Judge J. Michael Seabright ruled that Essayli is unlawfully serving as a de facto U.S. Attorney and barred him from participating in or supervising two criminal prosecutions. The cases themselves are ordinary—one a felon-in-possession gun charge, the other a stolen-property charge. The order isn’t immediate. The Justice Department is appealing, and Essayli has said the fight will go to the Supreme Court. This is the latest round in a long effort to restrict him after his interim appointment ended and the administration kept him in charge under different titles. Essayli is a Trump supporter and he’s effective. That’s why California is trying to shut him down. Essayli’s office has been examining voter registration practices, ballot handling, and related irregularities in a state that refuses basic citizenship verification. When a prosecutor starts asking those questions, the response from the left is to litigate the prosecutor’s title instead of the underlying claims. Judge Seabright, a Bush appointee, previously allowed Essayli to continue as first assistant. After a Ninth Circuit ruling in a similar Nevada appointment case, Seabright cited that case and tightened the restrictions on Essayli. The specific charges that Seabright doesn’t want Essayli prosecuting don’t matter here. What matters is the pattern. Democrats treat any real scrutiny of their election systems as an attack that must be slowed in court. Essayli is still in the job for now. The cases keep moving. The effort to obstruct the prosecutor continues. That’s the point of what Seabright and activist judges like him are doing. Democrats in California profit both financially and politically off the rampant fraud and will do anything they can to keep it going. That’s why they previously passed laws to limit journalists like Nick Shirley who was reporting on California fraud and why they’re now going after a U.S. Attorney for prosecuting California fraud. A properly functioning state would thank patriots who expose fraud. California treats those patriots as the problem.

Just so there’s no confusion, today’s order is stayed and has no immediate effect. I remain First Assistant U.S. Attorney and continue running the office. The Supreme Court will ultimately decide this matter.

Flavio Bolsonaro was able to leave Brazil on an ITALIAN passport that he had due to La Lega’s rules on citizenship by descent. (Right-Wing) He was transported safely to Argentina with his family and let in by their authorities due to intervention by Milei. (Right-Wing) The plane then transported him to Ecuador where they were able to get on a jet into the United States of America. (Right-Wing) Political asylum was directly granted by President Trump & Marco Rubio. (Right-Wing) Not a single Leftist country was involved in this, except Brazil of course… the one he was fleeing for his life.

CBS News's Margaret Brennan defends socialism prompting Joe Manchin to respond: "Are you crazy?" Brennan: "Could you ever support a self-described socialist candidate?" Manchin: "No. No way. My God, no." Brennan: "Even if they have some good ideas?" Manchin: "I support the good ideas. But how could you support some of the crazy stuff they're for? Have you seen their platform? They're for dismantling everything that we know, whether it be, whether it be the structure of government, Congress itself, or the Senate they want to get rid of, and then they start talking about all the crazy things, no police, no this, no this, no that. Are you crazy? We want, we want, a crime-free area. We have to have police for that. Yeah. We want a strong defense, we want a strong border. But if Democrats can't say that, and they start lining up with the socialist demands of how... Energy will be gone. There'll be no energy, okay? We have right now a tremendous amount of energy we're producing, and the world depends more on us than ever before."

It seems likely that many future elections will be framed in terms of using a known evil to prevent the accession of a "far right" Nazi or some similar apocalyptic evil. Stop Le Pen, stop Bolsonaro, stop Orange Man, stop (put your Nazi bogeyman here) even if it means voting for a Communist, Islamist or somethingist. We have gone from voting for someone you *like* to the candidate you fear least.

🚨 WOW! Sec. Marco Rubio has FORMALLY EXPELLED the Cuban official who tried intimidating Amb. Mike Waltz and assaulting an American at the UN "Sec. Rubio SIGNED the paperwork to EJECT the Cuban diplomat that thought he could shove and try to assault one of our American diplomats." 🔥 "They thought they could intimidate ME and my diplomats. I'm a 27-year Green Beret." "HE'S GONE. He's going to be on a plane to Havana in the next 24 hours!" Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and his entourage tried to play tough guy at the United Nations — and within hours, Marco Rubio and Mike Waltz made sure they FAFO'd! The commies are just furious that the truth is coming out. Their corruption is exposed and freedom is coming to Cuba 🇺🇸🇨🇺 This is Donald Trump's America, where foreign communists are expelled when they act like this!
