Nate Cohn points out that the Times' changed its weighing process this year. This is what the new polls would look like with the old weighing process. So they're already trying to protect against a pro-Dem polling error nytimes.com/2026/11/01/upsho…

NEW
Former Michigan Governor Jim Blanchard — a longtime friend and supporter of Haley Stevens — says he was having dinner on Friday with Stevens and her fiancé, and that Stevens was excited to attend the church service with Jim Clyburn and Abdul El-Sayed.
Blanchard said that Stevens’ fiancé, Jason Turkish, began chiding her at the dinner.
“He was working her over. The way he was saying it was, ‘Everyone is disappointed in you, they did everything they could to help you and then immediately after you lose the primary, you endorsed him.’”
“He was all distraught,” he said.
“He was all strung out about Abdul. I let her know, he’s not a good influence.”
Blanchard remained in touch with Stevens throughout the weekend and expected her to attend the church service. He only found out from the news that she was at the service with Rogers and endorsing him.
“Something snapped in her. And it snapped in 24 hours,” Blanchard told Zach Gorchow of State Affairs.
“And I don’t know what.”
Blanchard, clearly pained by the situation, said several times, “This is not the Haley I know.”
He lamented Turkish’s “terrible political judgment.”

The last thing I’ll say about these polls is that there’s something very interesting and encouraging for Democrats.
NYT/Siena specifically adjusted their weighting to account for the polling errors they experienced in 2024.
If they had used their 2024 weights instead of the new methodology they’ve developed, these would have been the results.
Very cool and normal

As I report here ...
- Stevens told numerous high profile Dems last night she was voting for AES
- staff was literally waiting at the unity rally thinking she was about to arrive
- even key Dems who are similarly skeptical of AES are baffled and aghast

I compiled every reason Haley Stevens said Mike Rogers couldnt be in the Senate purely out of spite

This is just not accurate, at all.
This was Haley's statement FROM LAST NIGHT:
“I was glad to see our senate nominee say he does not agree with the content of the vile Rebellion PAC ad which claimed Israel and Jews were to blame for the high costs of groceries.”
Abdul isn't perfect and has his flaws, but the sheer amount of misinformation about him, his views, and his comments that's been amplified by people who should know better has truly shocked me.

I WOULDN’T, EVER! I’ve been working for candidates whose names are lesser known around the Country and in Texas… I’m still not sure why that’s angered so many people, but I’m praying @thefirepac has a great night because it’ll mean our state and country have some amazing years to look forward to.

I put together what Haley Stevens previously said about Mike Rogers and it makes me wonder does she really believe in anything?
El-Sayed: At the end of the day, I actually don't think about Haley Stevens. Because you know what? I'm just less interested in the politics of it all than I am in the policy of it all…
If you are somebody who believes that we should stand up to hate, and you have watched this last campaign, I think we probably would not want to support Mike Rogers and Donald Trump and JD Vance. If you're somebody who believes that we need more health care, not less than you probably don't want to vote for the guy who voted to raise prescription drug prices or keep them high 19 times and takes money from big pharma and big insurance. If you're somebody who believes in public education, you probably do not want to support the guy who architected the initial legislation in 1999 that ended up stripping local control from Detroit public schools and the local community. If you're somebody who believes that you should have a right to a union, you probably don't want to support the guy who busts unions. So I'm just saying that the principles that we believe in as Democrats are really quite clear. I stand for all of them.

From now on, I do not want to hear ANY MORE “Progressives are ratfucking Dems” EVER AGAIN. People like Francesca Hong and Tom Steyer have backed the more moderate Dem nominee in their own races. Meanwhile Haley Stevens is out campaigning with Mike Rogers just TWO DAYS before the election
Look what you did Haley lmfao
Michigan Democrats stand united and fully behind @AbdulElSayed. We reject the attempts by Haley Stevens and bad-faith actors to divide our party and undermine our momentum.

"Michigan Democrats are proud to stand behind @AbdulElSayed as our nominee for United States Senate and in two days we will elect him to serve us in Washington."
Read DNC Black Caucus Chair Virgie Rollins' statement:

ALT “Michigan Democrats are proud to stand behind Abdul El-Sayed as our nominee for United States Senate and in two days we will elect him to serve us in Washington. We are dismayed that Congresswoman Haley Stevens has revealed herself to be a sellout who used Black Michiganders for a political stunt. Congresswoman Stevens has lost her way, and Michiganders know that Mike Rogers is a shill for Trump and has failed Michigan. We are ready to elect Abdul on Tuesday.”
