When you give your people:
- free parking
- unreliable transit
- streets unsafe for biking
- destinations too far for walking…
they’re gonna find ways to buy cars.
This isn’t people saying they love driving; it’s responding to the only available option. – at Chicago, IL

debugging strategy: use sounds or pictures
I'm still not satisfied with the examples in this one, I'd love to hear examples of how you use visualizations or sounds to debug

ALT title: use sounds or pictures When you're dealing with a lot of data (like in a game for example), sometimes text isn't the best way for your brain to process it! computer: "<thousands of lines of log messages>" person: "ugh I can't read all this!" computer: boop boop beep beep boop person: "wait, that pattern is super irregular..." Some things you could try: * play a sound every time an event happens! * add red outlines around every HTML element! * display an image representing some data!

I'm thankful for the growing @SnowflakeDB community that continuously shows up to support each other. Since I joined in Sep'20, I've seen:
- reddit.com/r/snowflake 📈 5,001 subs
- 1.3m views/quarter 📈on @StackOverflow
- Top db on @getdbt Slack
- Top "wh" on /r/dataengineering
Wish we had better red lane enforcement @SFMTA_Muni because they’re so fast when cars don’t use them!
Maybe this quick build is just due for a promotion…

One fundamental mistake software design teams make is behaving like they are the main character in their user's life story, and not the other way around.
Design as if your user
-didn't want to use your product or develop expertise
-hasn't thought about your product for months
my fave email newsletter, @assaf's labnotes, often shares links to interesting new products.
webhooks.fyi/ is great because it helps to standardize webhooks!
I'm also obsessed with the concept of youneedawiki.com/ because google docs increasingly supplants confluence, but content is much more findable and discoverable in confluence (imo). this helps resolve that problem for google docs!
