Thread: After 6 years of #osdev experience, here are my recommendations for trying out making your own Operating System from scratch:
You release, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless, Rebecca Black and its respective members, officers, directors, employees and agents (the "Released Parties") from and against all claims (known and unknown), liabilities, injuries, death, loss and/or damages of any kind

Ross of @accursedfarms explains how the EU Kids Act is cover for making private servers without age verification illegal, and doing the exact opposite of protecting kids in order to establish a surveillance state. Here's how to fight back:
-Sign and spread the #StopKillingInternet Initiative if you're an EU citizen of voting age (friends and family count too!): eci.ec.europa.eu/066/public/
- Leave a public comment about the EU Kids Act
Be polite and civil. This isn't Twitter or social media, but a direct public comment to the Commission. They're under no obligation to take people seriously if people misbehave or get out of hand. Write like you'll have to give your comment in person to your town hall or local government: ec.europa.eu/info/law/better…
- Read up on the EU Kids Act: eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-cont…
- The leaked proposal of the Kids Act: drive.proton.me/urls/7FGQYQ0…
- Contact your Member of European Parliament about your opposition to the Kids Act, and why they should also be opposed to it: europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/h…
- Spread the word and this video far and wide! Let the public know what is happening!

I put together a video going over the most damning parts of the EU Kids Act. It would make playing unsupported games online in the EU illegal, no joke. This is way bigger than SKG, most of the industry seems to be sleeping on this.

They actually say modulus, but journalists dumb it down.

ALT 3-panel SMBC comic update. A man wearing glasses stands at a podium, declaring: "at last we've overthrown the economists! From now on the nation's finances shall be run by mathematicians!" Shortly after, the same mathematician declares: "as of today, money will be denominated in complex numbers. The public's long wait for an algebraically closed currency is at an end!" The next panel shows a news article headline: "ECONOMY CRASHES - Nation's money accidentally rotated 90 degrees, now imaginary. Mathematicians (quoted): "calm down, absolute value unchanged."

Stop Killing the Internet. Right now, by not 'loving' it to death but by the same effect: Not letting it go free. europeanpirates.eu/stop-kill…
One of the marvels of mankind, maybe the latest World Wonder is in danger of being smothered for safety. Please join the campaign!
My ill advised spontaneous rural norwegian festival trip has now gone wrong to the point that the Red Cross is involved because Im temporarily homeless overnight due to heavy rain
Wait wait wait there is now internet service on the Central Line?!? But I cannot get online barely inside a building on Tottenham Court. London cellular service continues to mystify me, compared to places like Copenhagen where it just always works everywhere

Let's not downplay it. ID and biometric checks are coming for everyone, and not just in Europe. Fight it while you can.
Social media limits are coming for teens across Europe theverge.com/tech/964565/eu-…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Due to the way Age Verification works, these "social media limits" would not just limit teens and kids, but would require everyone, including adults, to provide private info such as Government IDs or Face Scans (which could get hacked or leaked) to use Apps/the Web

The European Parliament voted AGAINST Chat Control. 314 to 276.
And it passed anyway.
Let me tell you how: they needed 361 votes to say no. On the last day before vacation. Every empty seat counted as a yes.
They lost the vote. They won the law.
That’s not democracy. That’s a trick. #ChatControl
🇪🇺 Chat Control has passed 😔
They can and will now legally scan any person's messages, emails and photos you send without a warrant
The way they passed this law when the majority of the European Parliament was against it will shock you:
They waited until most EP members were on holiday so only a few were present and then created an "urgent" vote for it to pass it through
There's nothing democratic about any of it and big powerful forces are behind this that can manipulate the EU for whatever they want
Democracy in Europe died a bit today 😔
Replying to @gandalv7

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
PlayStation gains power over the consumer by disallowing new physical games and forcing digital.
For example, in the EU, PlayStation’s ToS says your digital games can be deleted after 36 months of account inactivity. All your games you paid for, poof, gone. See Section 21.

It’s now out in the open: what’s been known in Brussels for a while is coming.
Age verification, internet controls, and likely chat-scanning laws are on the way.
