Three Borders Closed. One Master Pleased. 250 Million Left to Pay. ( Letter From Pakistan) A country is not a barracks. Its people are not hostages. And patriotism is not a loyalty oath to whoever holds the gun. Pakistan’s hybrid rulers want us to marvel at their efficiency. Watch them scale the walls of an opposition leader’s home. Tear down a PTI signboard. Arrest an activist. Silence a dissenting voice. When it comes to controlling Pakistanis, the machinery never sleeps. When it comes to building Pakistan, suddenly nothing works. Our neighbourhood should be our economic lifeline. Instead, the picture is one of closed borders, restricted crossings and interrupted trade—from India to Afghanistan to Iran. Is this strategic depth? Or have we simply dug ourselves into a deeper hole? You cannot keep locking the gates and then wonder why prosperity never comes knocking. And as another confrontation threatens the region, the old question returns: will our rulers protect Pakistan’s interests—or audition, once again, for the role of somebody else’s frontline state? We know this song. We have buried too many people to forget the lyrics. The Afghan jihad was sold to us as salvation. The War on Terror was sold to us as necessity. Different slogans. Different patrons. The same demand: fall in line, ask no questions, and leave the consequences to the people. The powerful collected their privileges. Ordinary Pakistanis inherited the funerals, the fear and the unfinished future. Now we need trade. We need energy. We need jobs. We need peace with our neighbours—not another invitation to someone else’s war. Look at the contradiction called CPEC. We promised a bridge connecting China, Central Asia, South Asia and the Middle East. Roads. Ports. Power. A future built on movement and exchange. But what good is a corridor if every exit becomes a checkpoint? China invested in connectivity. Our rulers remain addicted to control. A bridge connects. A barricade divides. You cannot build the second and keep selling it as the first. This is the exhausted imagination of a ruling elite that still treats Pakistan’s geography as something to rent out: please a distant patron, secure another lifeline, postpone the reckoning. But a country cannot survive forever on borrowed money and borrowed purpose. My jihad is against that surrender of the national imagination. Against the belief that obedience is patriotism, that silence is peace, that 250 million human beings must keep sacrificing their futures to preserve the privileges of a few. Pakistan is not a military outpost with a population attached. It is our home. Open the space for its people to speak. Open the possibilities for its young to build. Make peace and commerce the national mission—not political captivity and permanent confrontation. Three borders closed. One master pleased. And 250 million Pakistanis left to pay the bill.

the sisters of @ImranKhanPTI are obstacles to the fight against terrorism? Is he for real? how are we at a place where 3 women in their 70s can be placed under arbitrary arrest without charge for 30 days and the arrest can be indefinitely extended. if someone wrote this as a script for a movie they would be laughed at, its so ridiculous & farcical! #freeimrankhan #freethesisters #farcegovernment #removethedictator

--- @MarioNawfal @tparsi — The question isn’t simply whether Pakistan has become Washington’s messenger. It’s how Asim Munir became Washington’s favorite in the first place. Consider the sequence: Munir’s April 16, 2025 speech invoking the Hindu-Muslim divide; the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack; and the India-Pakistan war that followed in May. There are allegations that Munir ordered the attack, including claims attributed to Pakistani military insiders. Those allegations require independent substantiation—not repetition as established fact. But the subsequent political rehabilitation deserves scrutiny in its own right. Trump claimed credit for the ceasefire. Munir emerged as field marshal, received a White House lunch invitation, and, alongside Shehbaz Sharif, backed Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. My contention is that this embrace amounted to a political license to act with impunity: accountability gave way to access, and Munir became a useful instrument of Trump’s regional diplomacy. Now, according to Trita Parsi’s assessment quoted here, Tehran sees Islamabad not as an independent mediator but as a conduit for Washington’s demands. That is the connection worth examining. When Washington elevates a military ruler into a privileged partner, why should Tehran automatically accept him as a neutral intermediary?

🇵🇰 Imran Khan's last sister still outside prison has a warning: if anyone claims he's cut a deal with the government, DON'T believe it. Rubina Khan says her brother has been held in total isolation since December 2, 2025, while her 3 sisters sit behind bars. With deal rumors swirling, she says it would be "very convenient" for someone to announce one on his behalf while all 3 are locked up. She also accuses the government of trying to kill him behind bars by withholding urgent medical treatment, despite an August Supreme Court order to move him to hospital. Until the family can actually see him, she won't trust anyone claiming to speak for him. Source: Rubina Khan (FB) / Writer: Julie

FREE IMRAN KHAN: 50 years ago, @ImranKhanPTI began to excel as a world class athlete. His opponents, Australia’s Greg Chappel , now Pat Cummins and Cricket Captains from across the planet, are demanding humanitarian treatment for Khan. Pakistan and the world’s Greatest of all times champion cricketer is in a torture cell.
I was 11-12 , visiting Pakistan from the US for the winter holidays with Ami, Sania and Sherry. During the Adelaide Test, played from December 24–29, 1976, we all joined Ami Aziza, Farooq mamun and the entire family for a memorable weekend trip to Sangla Hill, outside of Lahore, about 80 km from Sargodha, what is now, Nankana sahib district. There, at my great-grandfather Zahoorudin Khan’s sprawling family farm—our gaon—we listened to the Test commentary on Radio Australia on a transistor radio. I remember the horses, towering haystacks, cows, buffaloes and chickens; the bright, fresh oranges, apples and sugar cane; and the beautiful green fields stretching around us. My uncles would take me out on horseback to hunt teetar, or partridges, and we would play cricket on those bright, sunny days. It was a hard-fought series , 1-1, and a coming-of-age moment for the 24-year-old Imran Khan as a fast bowler. A few weeks later, on January 14, 1977, along with my cricket mad uncles , Akhtar mamun, Jedi & Juni mamun , I woke up at 4:30 a.m. and gathered in the drawing room of my great-grandparents’ house at 54 Lawrence Road in Lahore. We listened as Alan McGilvray described Imran’s lethal pace as he tore through Australia’s top order on the opening day of the Sydney Test. Unfortunately, I had to fly back to middle school in Rockland county, New York on January 15, the second morning of that historic Test. Many years later, in February 1990, I returned to Sydney with Imran—now Pakistan’s captain—to film Leading from the Front with Shoaib Mansoor. From listening to him on a transistor radio amid the green fields of our gaon, and then in my great-grandparents’ drawing room, to standing beside him in Sydney years later—it is a journey I look back on with wonder and gratitude youtube.com/watch?v=4XeeJLgR…

A Prisoner’s Health Is Not a Political Bargaining Chip Rubina Khan, the elder sister of former prime minister @ImranKhanPTI and a former senior United Nations official, has issued a stark warning: claims of a political “deal” should not be accepted without reliable access to her brother and confirmation of his wishes. In the statement shared here, she also expresses grave fears about his medical care and demands that treatment take place with trusted doctors and family oversight. Her warning raises a question larger than any negotiation: who can credibly speak for a prisoner whose access to those he trusts is severely restricted? Political dialogue is not inherently illegitimate. But an agreement attributed to an imprisoned leader requires verifiable consent—not anonymous briefings, speculation or assertions by intermediaries. Rubina’s statement does not establish that a deal exists. It challenges the credibility of anyone claiming one without being able to demonstrate her brother’s response. Rubina like her nephew @Kasim_Khan_1999 raise legitimate outrage of the state endangering Khan’s life by withholding necessary treatment. PROOF OF LIFE the underlying dispute over @ImranKhanPTI treatment and compliance with judicial directions is documented. Reporting on the Supreme Court’s August 18, 2026 order states that Khan was to be transferred to Shifa International Hospital, with access to his personal physician. Instead, authorities took him to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and returned him to prison after govt doctors examined him. They declared him medically fit and used the alternative hospital because of “security concerns”. His family and physician disputed the adequacy of the process. His personal doctor, Dr Faisal Sultan, said he had been directed to Shifa, waited there and never examined his patient that night. The state make independent medical scrutiny and demonstrable compliance with court orders essential—not optional. The family’s circumstances deepen the concern. In the statement shared , Rubina Khan is the only sister able to speak on behalf of her brother and three sisters. Precision matters, especially when the allegations are this serious. The answer to this crisis of confidence is transparency: meaningful access to legal counsel and family; examination and treatment by appropriately qualified doctors, with his personal physician involved; accurate medical information disclosed with respect for his privacy; and a clear, reviewable account of compliance with judicial orders. It requires a more basic principle: imprisonment must not make a person’s health, dignity or political consent dependent on the convenience of those holding him. Rubina Khan’s warning should therefore be answered with verifiable safeguards, not another round of political messaging. A government confident in the legality of its conduct should demonstrate it through lawful access, credible medical care and accountable action.
