While writing for popular TV shows, this Nigerian scriptwriter found her true calling in animation techpoint.africa/2019/12/19/… via @Techpointdotng
We had our last animation writing class for Milo Murphy's Law. It's been such an amazing course. I feel like a proud mama - my students wrote amazing spec scripts of the show! 🥰

Africans selling other Africans into slavery for profit was a great crime against humanity.
Yet they're not ashamed of themselves - on the contrary, they're demanding "reparations" from Britain for buying slaves off them.
"You bought the slaves we sold, now pay us reparations!"

If you want to be a writer, you have to treat writing as a skill you'll spend the rest of your life learning and improving. There is no point where you've mastered it. No point where you're done learning.
Don't go into it with any other mindset.

A screenplay tells me who you are just as much as who your characters are. I can tell what your intentions are – like whether you're in it to make a quick buck. I can tell if you've lived a life. Fell in love, been in a relationship, had your heart broken. I can tell if you know the people and the world you're writing about or you're just going off what you've seen in other movies. And I can tell what your values are. What you think is important. How you define a hero or a villain. I'm not judging anybody. I'm only judging the work. And maybe this mental picture I have of you is all wrong, but I don't think so. The best writing tells the truth even if most fiction is a made-up lie. And the one thing your writing can't hide is you.
