The implication of all this hubbub is that phishing is effective on the two ends of the spectrum: either very poorly written that you mass email hoping to find someone who's not very tech literate, or the highly targeted that's plausible almost exclusively if you have some insider information
Fwiw if you're a major corporation that really wants to harden their systems, the correct way to go about a test is to use the second strategy - because all of us have sat through trainings where phishing was insanely obvious. These didn't actually teach you anything

Back in the day, we did a phishing test with a client who had recently removed free soda as an employee benefit. One of the things that our phishing email asked employees to log in and fill a survey about was if they would like to see free sodas returned to the workplace.
The employees were so excited by the phishing email that they forwarded it around to each other to ensure that everybody got a copy and could log in and fill it out.
Needless to say, the client was furious, and we all learned a very valuable lesson about running the content of the phishing emails by the client and their corporate communications team before sending it to their employees.

Following the terror attack the Hindu temple Aurora, IL, two attacks against Hindus have been reported here in Metro Detroit area.
Oct 18 - Subrahmanya Temple Farmington Hills.
Around 7 pm, an aggressive trespasser entered the temple, littering the space with nasty materials and hurling verbal abuses at the people.
The temple team reacted quickly and locked the inner door. Called the police. Police apprehended the trespasser.
Oct 19- late evening/night
A devotee returning home from Parashakti temple reported being shot at in their car on the road. Nobody was hurt. The attack was reported by temple management to Pontiac police.
