"Sayeeda Warsi would make a terrible Islamophobia tsar", says the publication edited by Michael Gove, who was described as having "extreme views" towards Muslims by Sayeeda Warsi in 2018.
The name of the government's highly-controversial 'special representative' to oversee its equally controversial definition of 'anti-Muslim hostility' will be announced this week, ministers told Muslim groups at Downing Street yesterday. I understand that the shortlist of 12 includes, though is not limited to: Some of these names have, to say the least, questions over them. Asim, for instance, was sacked as an adviser to the last government after calling for a film about the Prophet Mohammed's daughter to be banned. And the definition itself, as I and others have previously argued, is deeply sinister. In the hands of some of these people, it could be weaponised to do really serious harm. ✍️ Andrew Gilligan Article | spectator.com/article/sayeed… | @mragilligan

The bleak problem is that to a man the British commentariat would fucking love to work for Palintir, with all the things normal people consider moral and ethical impediments actually being a huge bonus for them.
So many wise commentators assured us that Corbyn had discredited himself by antagonizing this gruesome little pimp when he was Labour's deputy leader. I'd love to see them offer their thoughts on Watson's infomercials for Palantir. (this particular gem is from Fintan O'Toole)

This book is really damning for Kushner. It claims the UAE paid Kushner $50 million to get Rex Tillerson fired as Secretary of State.

Should I panic buy lots of items so that Supermarket profits get a boost, which when combined with Black Friday and Christmas spending artificially inflates GDP in early 2027 thereby enabling the government and BBC News to announce "Good News on Growth" just as Fuel Bills go up?

It really is fascinating how we construct what facts you’re allowed to be ignorant of, and those you are not. It’s central I think to understanding the operation of the media, the curation of the public conversation.
“I didn't know that.” After defending Zionism, @MikeTappTweets is challenged by @ShehabKhan on Jewish people abroad being able to obtain Israeli citizenship while displaced Palestinians cannot return. His response: “That doesn't sound equal to me.” Watch more👇

I texted my children that we got the puppy they’ve been begging me for and sent them a link with pictures. 🐶When they clicked on the link, it took them to a webpage that said YOU’RE GROUNDED. They’ll be spending the weekend retaking our family’s cybersecurity training course.

Perhaps the most stark and revealing (accidental?) admission in the David Bell 'antisemitism in UK schools report. Antisemitic attitudes aren't increasing, only anti-Israel ones are. That's what most of this is about. From the horse's mouth: assets.publishing.service.go…

This is absolutely insane. The UK seems to have been involved in the kidnapping of Maduro - and the story spiked by an MOD D-Notice. The kidnapping was the most brazen act of criminality, and UK involvement would almost certainly have been given with Starmer's sign-off. A wretched, wreck of a PM. An unforgivable assault on international law.
🚨 A UK defence editor had information that UK Special Forces operating in Central America were involved in the US kidnapping of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro in Jan 2026 Article was never published after UK military's 'D-Notice' censorship body told the editor to spike it

One of the weirdest things about British politics is that everyone on the right over the age of 35 somehow thinks they were alive for World War II

Hes selling it and it’s deeply embarrassing for all the leftist content creators who could do little more than complain about the optics.
.@ZackPolanski "I support everyones right to self determination but not at the expense of another group because thats racist" Spot on. If self-determination requires the dispossession/displacement of another people its not self determination, its ethnic cleansing/colonisation

i remember when words and concepts had meanings, when they might be arbitrary but still they had standard meaning… it was bad with neo-liberallsm but with illiberalism, neo-managerialism meaning has evaporated. Democracy means Genocide and so on…

Feeling unsafe as a British Jew and sitting down for a chinwag with the guy who kept a book by Holocaust denier David Irving on his shelf, for the publication that published the article "In Praise of the Wehrmacht". Okie dokey.
Historian Simon Schama and Michael Gove discuss the resurgence of anti-Semitism in Britain, why British Jews increasingly feel unsafe, and what history can teach us about the war in Gaza. Watch in full | youtu.be/o7nMNK2jwk4 @michaelgove @simon_schama

We could be refurbishing and building houses. We could be developing technologies to improve the sector's productivity, and to enable the democratic co-design of places. But the money is being used to maintain the lifestyles of landlords. This should annoy us more than it does.
Just a quick reminder that we're spending a huge amount on housing; we're just not investing enough in building new housing. In 2024-25 we spent £36 bn on Housing Benefit and the housing element of Universal Credit and £2.84 bn on temporary accommodation for homeless families.
