I say this in support of artists: a lot of artists are incredibly good at creating art, but terrible at the business of selling it. And I don't mean that as an insult. The reality is that many artists have little to no formal training in business. They're expected to figure everything out themselves, often through trial and error. Market research, identifying target audiences, positioning, pricing strategies, understanding perceived value, negotiating contracts, managing client relationships, customer acquisition, marketing, sales, licensing, intellectual property rights, payment terms, profit margins, cash flow, handling revisions, setting boundaries and knowing when to walk away from a bad deal. These are all legitimate business skills. Entire careers are built around mastering them. Yet we somehow expect artists to know all of this simply because they're good at drawing. So yes, greater transparency around industry pricing would help tremendously. But I think the bigger conversation should be about teaching artists how to actually run a business.

There's a major skill gap between the art twitter I used to know and the one it is now. Like wooow. This is art twitter now? Seriously? A bunch of children bullying and harassing professionals? Laughable. Yall already not getting jobs and now probably blacklisted too

Yeah ideally I wish more people where willing recognize SP is very politically centrist, very liberal at best. I was like a sliigtly progressive tween in 2008 and realized these things even if I didnt had the language to express it, so is bizarre many ppl TODAY think SP was woke.
no shade but they should’ve taken matt and trey’s pen right there and then

Parents please note this is how you help your kids on track. Monitoring, helping, encouraging and congratulating when they get on track is super important.
i wish parents understood how mentally draining this is to a kid. it does nothing but lead to them being adults who have a fear of failure and think their life is meaningless/over when said failure happens

twitter used to be THE primary place for networking akin to a freelancer LinkdIn and getting cooperate gigs for many artists, but now its become a place where beginners devalue the own work and non-artists bitching about prices. twitter is not artist friendly anymore
Twitter is dead. All these randos think artists are randos 😂

#FreeCongo 🇨🇩 Congolese endure terror & displacement while global tech giants profit from the minerals beneath their land. When violence forces families to flee, who gains access to their homes & resources? Their grief is not a business model. The world must demand accountability

Just watched an immigration court hearing for a detained 15 yr old that started out with the judge asking about his Halloween plans & ended with her ordering him deported. The lack of justice for immigrant kids right now in our immigration courts is stunningly diabolical.

the "megan was born a man" conspiracy is the most obvious campaign to lead people down the alt-right pipeline. it has almost every form of hate in it: misogynoir, trans panic, women can't be naturally athletic, body negativity, red pill/incel culture. fuck that.
This is how Megan the stallion look like before the fame but why did she look like a man in this video 🤔

The RSF militia (backed by the UAE) has plunged Sudan into darkness after launching a massive campaign targeting electricity grids throughout the entire country. The drones are coming from Ethiopia directly. In a country that is already devastated by war. #KeepEyesOnSudan

BULLYING in schools is the foundation of many adult behavioral problems today. It really starts from there. It should be treated with a very heavy hand.

The Ghanaian kids death should have sparked a discourse in the proliferation of firearms in the cities and the dangers of teenage gangs, but people will just use it as fuel for racist diaspora wars.

This is how you build a community. By SHOWING UP in person for your people. How many times did we hear our parents say “I don’t feel like it, but I’m gonna go and show my face for a lil bit.” That’s why THEY have ppl coming out the woodwork for them whenever it’s their turn!
Birthday parties. Funerals. Hospital visits. We're raising our kids to attend anything they're invited to that's meaningful to someone else, even if they might prefer doing something else. Always go to the funeral. npr.org/2005/08/08/4785079/a…
