This well-hyped book is certainly worth a read and it is very short. Bottom line: the collapse of civil association favours the authoritarian right and the left can only recover by restoring institutional association. But author knows his suggestions for doing that are forlorn.

Her side of the left is going to lose this battle. Hasan Piker's expensive watch, AOC's glow up, Newsom's sheen--these are all very intentional calculated moves from the Left, which has learned the hard way that being fat and ugly is absolutely not the move.
They're going to flash wealth and beauty this time around, as counterintuitive as it may be...and in fact that's why it'll be so genius. Naked hypocrisy is much more attractive than tortured logical consistency.

She closes by arguing that revolution is not “a contest between optimized and properly prepared bodies” and that the very idea is itself fascist.
