We just raised a $75M Series B to *finally* automate AML/KYC with AI agents.
KYC/AML software has been around for a long time. @brettonai is different:
- Autonomous browsing: agents hop between multiple tools to complete reviews without the need for a massive engineering lift for the bank
- Long Horizon Agents: our agents complete iterative, complex reviews that take humans hours to complete
- Bank-grade model risk management: built for regulators, internal audit and third-party reviews
It's why companies like Robinhood, Lead Bank and Gusto use us to scale efficiently and deliver great customer experiences.
Our Series B is led by @rajeevdham and @SapphireVC , with participation from Greylock, Y Combinator, Thomson Reuters Ventures, Canvas Ventures and TIAA Ventures.
3 years ago, this company was just a dream. Now I get to work with 40 of the smartest, hardest working poeple I’ve ever met to solve big problems at the heart of finance. I'm pumped for the future!
Now back to building.

Pretty great company to be in.
Thanks for including us in this year's Fintech 100 @CBInsights 🙌
The 9th annual CB Insights Fintech 100 is here.
Meet the startups most likely to shape the future of financial services.
Many of this year’s winners are building beneath the products customers see: compliance, data enrichment, tokenization, and cross-border payments.
We selected them based on deal activity, industry partnerships, team strength, investor strength, executive interviews, and proprietary metrics.
Together, these companies have raised $10.9B in equity funding and have disclosed 330+ partnerships since 2025.
These are the startups to watch if you’re investing, acquiring, partnering, or competing in financial services.

We're still buzzing from @money2020!
Between launching The Standard, putting our CEO and COO to work handing out magazines, and giving away 1oz of gold, it's safe to say we had a pretty eventful week.
Thanks to everyone who made it one to remember!
In 1944, the people at Bretton Woods understood that money only works if the infrastructure underneath it works.
Last night in Vegas we launched The Standard, a quarterly print magazine about the people running America's community banks. On our first cover: Matt Michaelis, Chairman and CEO of Emprise Bank.
Why print, from an AI company?
Because community banks are some of the most important institutions in American finance and among the least covered. They lend local deposits to local borrowers. When they compete well, Main Street is better off. Their leaders deserve a publication made with that much care.
The Standard has no product pitch. It has stories about banks, the people who run them, and the operations that decide how far they can go.
Thank you to Matt, to our contributors, and to everyone who joined us last night.
If you're at @money2020, come grab a copy at booth #19058!
More than 100 community banks shut down last year. This trend is clearly going to accelerate
But but but it gives an opportunity for some of the tech-enabled banks like Lead, Coastal, MVB etc to have fintech-like offerings that can serve trends outside of major cities.
Think Cash App vs Venmo
Net net: more assets will flow, but to fewer and fewer banks
Greylock and @SethGRosenberg have been incredible partners as we've built @brettonai.
They helped us land key early talent, close enterprise deals and shape our strategic direction.
If you have the chance to partner with them, run dont walk
Today, we are announcing Greylock 18, a new $1.5 billion early-stage venture fund.
A company begins when a founder sees a future others cannot yet see. There is no team, product, or revenue. Only a deep insight and the courage to start.
Being early is lonely work. For years, being right can look exactly like being wrong. Greylock has spent more than six decades partnering with founders through those earliest moments to build enduring companies. Airbnb, Facebook, and Palo Alto Networks all began as improbable ideas driven by founders determined to make them inevitable.
AI has made the map blank again. Every part of the economy is now open to reinvention. We believe many of the defining AI companies do not yet exist.
We invest selectively and partner deeply with the founders we back. Each Greylock partner makes only one or two new investments a year because the work demands depth. We bring the full attention, network, and resources of Greylock to every partnership.
We are builders backing outliers. Founders have their choice of investor. When a founder chooses to partner with Greylock, we understand the weight of that choice and the profound responsibility that comes with it. We seek to be a founder’s first believer and long-term partner.
Greylock 18 is our commitment to what does not exist yet.
Our new agent platform lets banks build any agent for their back office from a single control panel.
Banks around the U.S. are using us to replace BPOs and increase leverage.

With zero branches and over $5.6B in assets, FIB has been a pioneer in digital banking since 1999.
But even the most innovative banks are drowning in manual compliance work.
By partnering with @brettonai, FIB was able to:
- Reduce time spent on manual compliance review by a whopping 87%
- Saving 24,300 hours a year across four different teams

Introducing Bretton AI Horizon: the first agentic workspace for L2 financial crime escalations.
Your best investigators spend hours swiveling between 10+ systems to close a single case. Horizon changes that.
One workspace to:
- Pull records from any internal or external system
- Execute AI-powered research plans
- Draft SARs from your own templates
- Meet audit and QA standards on every investigation
Bretton AI now covers L1 to L2. End-to-end.
Today I'm excited to announce Bretton AI Horizon: the AI workspace for L2 financial crime work.
Why we built this:
Agents complete L1 alert reviews incredibly well. But some investigations need an escalated review driven by humans.
Horizon is the first automation platform designed specifically for complex financial crime escalations, starting with L2 work.
Horizon can help teams:
- Find records from your underlying case management, screening or KYC systems without “swiveling” between 10+ different systems
- Use 30+ AI tools to execute contextual research plans
- Draft and [soon] file SARs directly from Horizon
- Ensure every investigation has a rich audit log and meets internal QA/QC standards

@brettonai now helps financial crime team automate L1 and L2 work all from a single pane of glass.
We're so excited for the financial crime community to try this. Get in touch if you want to see it in action!

In 2023, 3 years before this chart, @will_lawrenceTO had a clear vision for how AI agents were going to automate compliance based on his experience at WhatsApp and Paxos
Fast forward, and @brettonai has become the enterprise leader in AI for financial crimes
Individual banks can spend $100-$300M *each* on human compliance analysts for poor results - including backlogged alerts, fines, and poor customer experiences
Bretton AI has become the trusted provider for regulated financial institutions at scale, serving customers worth over $1 trillion in aggregate market cap
Congrats on the $75M Series B, and welcome @rajeevdham and @SapphireVC to the team!

Sapphire is awesome and we're excited to build a generational company with them. Onwards!
Congrats to @will_lawrenceTO & @brettonai on the $75M Series B & their rebrand from Greenlite AI. We’re proud to lead this round & back Bretton AI! 🎉🎉
Financial crime compliance costs North American institutions $60B+ annually. Bretton AI tackles the core bottleneck: the investigation process itself. Their AI agents handle first-line investigative work, helping teams resolve low-risk cases faster while focusing human judgment where it matters most.
🎥 @rajeevdham sat down with Will to discuss the journey & what’s next for Bretton AI. Watch below + read why we’re excited to partner: sapphireventures.com/blog/br…
2025 was our best year yet at Greenlite.
- Grew ACV from $50k to $201k
- Signed 5 public companies
- Grew AUM of customers from $150B to $987B
- Completed 1.2M investigations for customers
- Saved our customers 97.5 years worth of labor
2026 will be even bigger!

Large financial institutions spend 6-10% of their revenue on compliance; with the majority of spend on human analysts who complete mundane data transformation tasks
There's a new category of AI agents that automate this work, going after the $60bn in spend in North America alone, and enabling businesses to onboard more customers, reduce compliance risk, and save costs
