“Indulging the cognitive biases that make reasonable and ethical people disappear also helps create cultural conditions in which unreasonable and unethical people can take power. We can all play a part in interrupting that process.”

Carl Jung on the effect of the group on the ego.

ALT The group enhances the ego... but the self is diminished and put in the background in favour of the average.... Instead of finding security and independence in oneself, which is what is needed, the danger exists that the individual will make the group into a father and mother and therefore remain as dependent, insecure and infantile as before. Jung correspondence, quoted in von Franz, C.G. Jung: His Myth in Our Time

Any ideology that tells its followers they have inherent, special rights over other humans for no other reason than the identity they were born into will make people malevolent.
There is nothing more corrupting than unearned superiority.

The concept of “I” to even refer to one’s ancient ancestors is broken (let alone just a tiny portion of their ancient ancestors, as is the reality).
You are not your ancestors. You are not your ethnic group. You are not your “race,” in so far as that’s even a coherent concept.
To understand the root of why belief systems like Zionism are so destructive, you must look at how they replace individualism with fraudulent collectivism.

A thoughtful piece from @JosephJakeKlein.
The liberty movement is not in a great place right now. But keeping the remnant alive is something we can do regardless of the circumstances. Study theory, policy, history, privacy. We need to know our stuff.

Collective victimhood narratives are real.
An entire group can adopt the story that their existence is uniquely defined by victimhood. Group members learn to filter everything through the lens of perpetuating a collective victimhood story.
This is why individualism is freeing.

It’s not just that Dolly Parton was an amazing musician who exemplified the depth and soul of American country music.
She also exemplified a kind of American culture we no longer have: character, humor, optimism, individuality, compassion for others without abandonment of self.
She didn’t try to get ahead by painting herself as a victim or demonizing her competitors. She didn’t try to become whatever the Current Thing dictated.
She showed us the beauty of individualism that our culture has long forgotten: when you act from love and authenticity, you have no true competition and cannot lose.
She did what every great artist does and forged a completely inimitable career just by being herself.

The next generation of online discourse is being built right now. I'm asking Integrally founder Steve Everist about his radical fix for broken debate: pseudonymous discourse where you build reputation by winning over your opponents, not collecting likes. xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1DxLddzgj…

1. Groupthink leads to poor decision-making because members prioritize consensus over critical evaluation of alternatives (Janis, 1972).

It’s important to practice speaking up. If you’re in school , let yourself ask every question that arises in you even if it feels strange to cut the air with your own voice. It’s so important for life
