Every US immigration discourse ever is just "if we're not so racist we could just increase the immigration capacity and thus making literally everyone's life better".

What I eventually realized is that a reason some people are extremely mercenary is that their model of the world is devoid of duty/loyalty/honesty/etc.
Those people have a very hard time modeling the behavior of people who aren't completely mercenary due to ethical limitations.

You’ve heard of a supernova, but what about a kilonova?!
A kilonova occurs when two neutron stars or a neutron star and a black hole collide and merge. @NASARoman, launching no later than May 2027, will help us learn more about these phenomenal events.

It’s time to suit up, astronauts! 👨🚀
Are you, your friends, or kiddos wearing a space costume this Halloween? Share it with us using #NASACostume so we can see!

ALT Four astronauts in different orientations pose in Halloween costumes aboard the space station. At the bottom left, Jessica Meir is dressed like a pirate with a white tee shirt and red sweater tied around her head. She also has an eyepatch on. Upside down above her is Christina Koch in a black tee-shirt and flame-shaped red sunglasses. Next to her, upside-down, is European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano dressed like Waldo from "Where's Waldo?" Below him, rightside-up, is Drew Morgan dressed in a gorilla costume.

Studying the gamma-ray skies can be really sweet! A multitalented scientist, who bakes in their spare time, captured the likeness of our Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope in chocolate. The real satellite isn’t as tasty, but it has made some delicious discoveries about our universe.

The truth is that the anti-abortion movement didn't win because they had the numbers, or the better arguments, but because of a disciplined focus on where actual power lies. The media's job should be to illustrate how they did it, not to flatter them in victory.

Indeed, framing liberal policies with conservative values is a free lunch: it helps with conservatives & moderates without hurting support among liberals

Last month I did the unthinkable and finally threw out that box of unloved cables that I've dragged with me through adulthood.
Today I realised that I needed one of them and have no idea how to find a replacement.
