"Trunk-or-treat" is one of the absolute worst tragedies to befall our culture. Do not, under any circumstances, bring your children to a "trunk-or-treat". The practice, by which a group of parents organize to give out Halloween candy from the trunks of their vehicles in close proximity is sometimes regarded as a safer alternative to trick-or-treating, while other parents see it as an easier alternative to walking the neighborhood with their children. God forbid! I cannot stress this enough: this is anathema to everything good about Halloween, America, Europe, Western civilization, and the entire history thereof. This, like so much of our modern culture, is a crushing force that seeks to steamroll everything into a safe, amorphous, corporate-approved blob that lacks any semblance of truth, beauty, history, identity, or tradition. We know that Halloween was historically an old Celtic pagan fire festival to mark the start of winter (forgive the oversimplification, it's just Twitter). In Scotland, Ireland, Britain et. al., from where so many of our good old traditions hail, one could expect masked youngsters impersonating mischievous spirits to throw one's plough or cart into a nasty soggy ditch or lead your horse into a neighbor’s field. There was no appeasing these mischievous ghouls back then! It was chaos! Luckily today, since about 1920 when "guising" was introduced by Irish and Scottish immigrants in Massachusetts, we can bribe the goblins with some sweets and send them on their way. And that's just it; it's a night when children have a sense of agency and control! We adults are at their joyfully mischievous mercy! If you do not pay the sweet tithe to the fairies and ghouls, your home may well fall victim to a nasty trick (toilet paper, anyone?). This is how it should be! Halloween should not be some staid and sanitized safe little polite jaunt about the park from car trunk to car trunk; it should be a night where children run rampant, threatening to egg houses and burn the village down to the very stones if their ravenous hunger is not appeased! That is good and just and right! Please, for the sake of tradition, history, and beauty, send your children trick-or-treating from house to house. Have them knock on doors. Encourage mischief and risk and joy. They only get a brief window when this is possible. They only get one childhood.

I call on @X and @elonmusk to show their word is good, to undo the results of this cruel attack, and to punish those who violated their word of honor. #FreeStanky!
#FreeStanky! An artist, unjustly suspended, while those who Brigaded him have been left free! To instigate or join in on an act of Brigading is in violation of the ToS here on X. As such, those that targeted @TheKingOfStank should be removed AT ONCE! Relevant ToS (sub)sections: HARASSMENT “You may not target others with abuse or harassment, or encourage other people to do so.” Or more specifically: “We prohibit behavior that encourages others to harass or target specific individuals or groups of people with abuse. This includes, but is not limited to: calls to target people with abuse or harassment online and behavior that urges offline action, such as physical harassment.” AUTHENTICITY “You may not use X’s services in a manner intended to artificially amplify or suppress information or engage in behavior that manipulates or disrupts people’s experience on X.” (not allowed) "coordinating and/or encouraging others to misuse X reporting features to harass others under false pretenses or hope to cause their account(s) or post(s) to be restricted or removed."

Pieces of Halley's Comet are going to burn up over most of the country before dawn Thursday. If you're in the clear, step outside after the moon sets, around 3 to 4 AM, and look up. From a dark spot, 10 to 20 an hour.

Lol we are entering the phase where the anti-space people now have to accept we will be going to the Moon but shifted it to "le big city cant work"
Moments ago @CNN cited a study saying that very large settlements on the Moon would run out of water and that much smaller bases are more realistic #Artemis @NASAMoonbase

It's wild to think of how it must have felt to be the person who first saw this picture. Imagine what wonders still await us!
For all of human history, people only saw the moon from Earth. On Aug. 23, 1966, a NASA probe flipped the view. Lunar Orbiter 1 was mapping landing sites when it sent back an unplanned shot of Earth rising over the lunar horizon. The Soviets had already photographed most of the far side with Luna 3 in 1959. But the pictures weren’t clear enough to help choose a safe landing zone on the moon. On Aug. 30, 1963, NASA approved the Lunar Orbiter program. On Aug. 10, 1966, in Cape Canaveral, the Atlas-Agena D rocket boosters launched Lunar Orbiter 1 into space. During one of its 577 orbits, it sent back an image no one had expected to receive. It was on Aug. 23, 1966, that Lunar Orbiter 1 took an unplanned, yet iconic photograph. Since the dawn of mankind, humans had only ever seen the moon from Earth. This incidental and historic photo showed Earth from the perspective of the moon. For the first time, people now saw what the “Man in the Moon” saw.

My wife recently gathered up a nice collection of Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes. We then halved them, added olive oil, mixed in herbs and spices, and turned them into a lovely bruschetta on sourdough toast!
