This Newark tow yard charged a trucker $4,000… so he walked right into their yard and started filming the staff 😳
"You walked in that yard… it was trespassing."
"He approached me ready to buckle up with me."
"Take it down. Take it down."
"Bro, you just scammed me for $4,000. You want me to take it down?"
Is this tow yard running a scam, or did he bring this on himself by walking into their yard? 👀

Patrick Stewart was once filmed dancing and singing on the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D in 1991 as a birthday surprise for Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Though never intended for public release, a copy of the clip eventually surfaced as a bonus feature on a DVD.
Rest in peace 🙏

Trichodina is a single cell that built a gear. Its underside is a ring of interlocking hook-shaped denticles, each nested into the next like a circular saw, and the count is species-specific. No blueprint, no brain just some “unintelligent” proteins that self-assemble into precision.

There's a printer in our office that hasn't worked since 2021.
Last month Facilities asked IT to dispose of it.
Easy.
Except company policy requires a signed Asset Disposal Authorization before any equipment can be removed.
The authorization must be printed, signed by the department head, and attached to the equipment.
I submitted the form.
Finance rejected it.
Reason: The printer still has a book value of $14.62.
They can't write it off until the next depreciation cycle.
Fine.
We moved it to storage.
Facilities rejected that because storage is reserved for operational equipment.
It's not operational.
"Then it needs to be disposed of."
I explained Finance won't let us.
Facilities said that was an IT issue.
So I found a solution.
I submitted a repair estimate.
$480 to fix a printer worth $14.62.
Finance rejected the repair because replacement would be more economical.
I submitted a replacement request.
Finance rejected it because we already have enough printers.
I attached the rejection to the disposal form.
Finance rejected that too.
Last Friday an auditor asked why we had a broken printer sitting in the hallway.
I explained the situation.
He said leaving unused equipment in a hallway creates an asset management compliance risk.
He recommended assigning someone to oversee it.
My manager just informed me I'm now the official custodian of the printer.
It's been broken for five years.
It has no toner.
It cannot print.
But it has an owner, a depreciation schedule, and a quarterly compliance review.
It has more job security than I do.

Cisco warns of hackers exploiting a firewall vulnerability
Cisco has released security patches for a vulnerability in its ASA and Firepower firewalls that hackers are already exploiting.
The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-76418, has a severity score of 8.6/10.
Attackers can exploit it without logging in, potentially forcing affected firewalls to restart and disrupting VPN connections.

Just a psa: I had a job before I was old enough to drive. Babysitting at 13, and at 15 years old a local fast food joint. So it’s hard to understand grown adults who won’t work but still expect someone else to pay their way.
Lazy f*cks.

Not a single handwashing station in sight
Illegal street food vendors line the sidewalks in front of Walmart in Long Beach, California
It looks like the city is doing enforcement and the Hispanic community is not happy. Every single one of these sidewalk vendors needs to be removed and their owners need to be deported
This is America, not Tijuana Mexico

An indian man choked to death after abusing the free samples at Costco and you’re laughing?
Hi Sweta, I think I can shed some transparency on this
You see, when Costco was founded the target audience was 100 IQ American Whites and not 76 IQ retard-adjacent 3rd worlders like yourself
While I understand dying in comical Looney Tunes fashion is part of your culture it's not something we generally worry about in the US, mostly on account of that not being retarded thing
While regrettable that your husband died because he couldn't do something most 1-year old babies figure out, take solace in knowing he at least didn't walk in front of a train and ruin the commutes of normal Americans
You probably would have been happier if you had just stayed in India
Hope this helps

A Houston mail carrier was arrested outside his own post office with school tax checks stuffed in his Range Rover.
Eurey Dewayne Smith has delivered mail for almost 14 years. Prosecutors say investigators found 12 letters in his SUV, and 11 were addressed to the Spring Branch ISD tax office.
That is just the tip of it. Federal investigators are chasing more than 220 stolen property tax checks worth over $4 million, missing from the mail since January, then altered and cashed.
Families were reporting this back in February. It took until October for anybody to get cuffed.
Texans already get crushed by property taxes. Now they have to wonder if the mail even gets the check where it's going.
The Harris County DA wanted a $1 million bond and says heavier charges are coming. If the charges hold up, throw the book at him.
We are six days from an election, and people are trusting that same mail system with their ballots. Somebody had better be watching it.

How did I figure out that natron dissolves granite?
With difficulty. First I had to forget what school taught me about stone.
Granite isn't some sacred, eternal material. Roughly three quarters of it is SiO₂, quartz. The rest is metal oxides: aluminium, sodium, potassium, calcium, iron.
(Just like wood ash. Remember that, it matters later.)
A Mohs hardness of 6–7 isn't a verdict, just a physical state. The real question is what breaks down quartz.
Glassmakers have known the answer for centuries: molten natron (Na₂CO₃) takes SiO₂ apart at 851 °C.
SiO₂ + Na₂CO₃ → Na₂SiO₃ + CO₂
What's created in the reaction is a strong glue, called waterglass. The main ingredient of artificial stone. Oops!
I tried dismantling a piece of red granite with charcoal embers, a tin can and washing soda (=natron). The result is in the photo, after removing the dry waterglass with a plastic(!) tooth brush.
Later, in my garden, I etched granite with NaOH and KOH separately, at around 360–400 °C.
This year, with a NaOH–KOH eutectic mix, 168 °C was enough. That's all it takes for the "invincible" stone.
I discovered nothing. Glassmakers, ceramicists and recyclers all know this.
Nobody had just connected it to the scoop marks on ancient stones. Let’s connect the dots, archeologists!
I really do not understand the pricing on the new Mac Studio M5 Ultra.
A 256GB unit costs $10,799.
Upgrading that RAM to 512GB adds an extra $11,500.
You are paying more just to double the memory than it costs to buy two separate 256GB machines. And two machines give you twice the processors and twice the storage for less money.
How does this pricing strategy make any sense?
