At the #Ebola Treatment Centre in Bunia, Elia Panza Héritier works every day to help prevent infections. Wearing protective equipment, he cleans the premises, manages waste and disinfects potentially contaminated areas. For this hygienist, every action matters in protecting patients and response teams.

.@MOH_Kenya has confirmed a third case of #Ebola among the contacts of the first patient. The new patient was already in the quarantine and is now receiving supportive clinical care. This early detection demonstrates the importance of contact tracing and surveillance measures. @WHO continues to support. xitter.cf/moh_kenya/status/21111…

Although preventable and treatable, cholera disproportionately affects vulnerable populations in fragile and humanitarian settings, with risks compounded by conflict, rapid urbanisation, climate change and recurrent natural disasters. This World Health Organization Health Emergencies EPI-WIN webinar will highlight the latest guidance on designing and operating cholera treatment facilities, with a focus on water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC). By strengthening how facilities are planned and managed, these measures can improve patient care, protect health workers and help reduce the spread of cholera during outbreaks. 📌Title: 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗛 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗣𝗖 📅 Date and Time: 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟭 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝟭𝟰.𝟬𝟬 - 𝟭𝟱.𝟬𝟬 𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗧 (Geneva time) 🌐 Webpage: bit.ly/4jo3bAV 🔗 Registration link: bit.ly/4ikKiON @WHO @Chikwe_I @mvankerkhove @ChungongStella @SecGTFCC @Pezzapezzi @WHOEMRO @WHOAFRO @WHOSEARO @WHOWPRO

Attacks on health care must never be the norm.
Critical health supplies were destroyed when a WHO warehouse in Ukraine was hit in an attack. These supplies were intended for health facilities treating patients every day. From the burnt warehouse, @Chikwe_I, Executive Director, WHO Health Emergencies Programme, explains what the loss means for health care in Ukraine and how WHO is adapting to keep essential medicines and medical supplies moving to where they are needed most. Attacks on health care must stop. Health workers, patients and medical facilities and supplies must be protected under international humanitarian law.

Five years ago, Dr Angela Merkel saw beyond the COVID-19 pandemic in front of us & imagined a Hub to help the world be better prepared for the next pandemic It was an honour to help build the #WHOHub in Berlin, and to join @DrTedros celebrate with her what that vision has become
Vielen Dank, former Chancellor Angela Merkel, for a very good meeting this week on the importance of health for global security, and therefore the urgent need to invest more in epidemic and pandemic prevention and preparedness. Your wisdom and friendship with @WHO are deeply appreciated.

The story of the @WHO Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence Hub began on 23 October 2020, at the height of the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, with an urgent Zoom call with Chancellor Angela Merkel. Five years later, the Hub has grown from an ambitious early-warning concept into a fully operational global anchor for health security that spans more than 160 countries and more than 190 partner organizations. #WHS2026

.@Chikwe_I and I just met with Health Minister @ViktorLiashko to discuss the health needs across #Ukraine. The Minister shared his concerns over attacks on health infrastructure, especially on the medicine supply chain, which deprives people of access even to basic medicines. @WHO continues to call for the protection of health care and health facilities everywhere. We will continue to support the delivery of health care in 🇺🇦, and preparedness for another challenging winter with energy disruption to hospitals. #WHS2026
