Mumbai’s next big underground tunnels are taking shape!
The Coastal Road extension between Mindspace, Malad and Charkop Creek will feature 3.9-km twin tunnels, running nearly 40 metres underground, with four lanes in each direction.
The giant Tunnel Boring Machines have undergone their first major factory tests in Chennai. With a 15.6-metre cutterhead and an 87-metre-long machine, tunnelling is expected to begin in May 2027. The launch shaft work at Charkop has already begun. Once completed, these tunnels will become part of Mumbai’s proposed signal-free Versova-Dahisar corridor.

#SRA matlab #Scam after Scam..
Thousands of #crores in #revenue have been siphoned off from the SRA, Who is responsible ?
And who is shielding this siphoning of funds ??
Four direct questions for the government:
1. Who exactly is Mr. Naveen Makhija ? What position does he hold, and under what authority does he attend SRA meetings and sit beside Mr. #AseemGupta ?
2. There is talk that an attempt is being made to 'regularize' the SRA's illegal permissions by amending Regulation 33(11) of the #DCPR 2034. Is this true ?
And what is Mr. Makhija's role in this ?
3. By encroaching on the powers of the #Brihanmumbai #Municipal Corporation, it is granting permissions under SRA Regulation 33(11) without having the authority to do so. Will the government stop this immediately, or turn a blind eye and give developers free rein?
4. As the SRA's chairperson, will the Hon. #ChiefMinister @Dev_Fadnavis recover the thousands of crores in revenue lost under 33(11) ?
5. Who are the #developers benefiting the most from these permissions—will that list be made public ?
The BMC Commissioner's letters (2024–26), the government's directive of 15 October 2024, the High Court's observations—everything is on record.
All that remains is the government's answer 😉 – at Mumbai, India

We have written to CM @Dev_Fadnavis urging that no firecracker be burst unless it meets the Environment (Protection) Act and the Bombay High Court's orders.
In 2006, every cracker we tested with MPCB broke the 125 dB limit, with the loudest at 144.9 dB. In 2026, the loudest reached 93 dB. Twenty years of awareness and enforcement have worked.
But 93 dB is still above the permitted limit in every zone of Mumbai, where even industrial zones allow only 75 dB by day.
The bigger gap now is on the box. Many crackers, including "green" ones, skip mandatory decibel levels, carry fake QR codes or none, and hide what's inside. Our tests found banned chemicals, including barium.
AQI has already hit 163 in Vile Parle West, Shivaji Nagar and around T2, a day before Diwali. The High Court has banned crackers on public roads and in all 110 Silence Zones. @CMOMaharashtra @Dev_Fadnavis @mybmc @mpcb_official

Another Fire🔥
And Mumbai is facing water crisis.
Fire breaks out at Kamgar Krida Bhavan compound in Dadar, reportedly in an illegal godown used by mandap decorators.
Ironically, just FIVE days ago, BJP organised an event at the same venue attended by the @CMOMaharashtra
@mhlabourwelfare must immediately inspect the entire premises, identify all illegal storage facilities, ensure removal of fire hazards and make the area safe for the public.
Do not wait for another tragedy to act!

Ashish Shelar’s idea of beautifying Bandra, apparently, is spending public money on oversized, ornamental installations while much of the neighbourhood continues to struggle with broken footpaths, encroachments and basic civic infrastructure.
Bandra needs proper footpaths, better roads and functioning civic infrastructure. Not ugly vanity projects dressed up as beautification.
Who is asking for these projects, who is approving them, and who is being held accountable for how public money is spent?

The BMC is leading Mumbai into a war against the environment. The ruling BJP is spearheading it. Neither can provide Mumbai with clean air.
Which is why, it is easier to polarise #DiaMirza's video, delete it. I write for @TheQuint about the sorry state of Mumbai in this new India, where even air pollution has been communalised.
