💥 OHIO EARLY VOTE, through Thursday, Oct. 29: 1,485,900 ballots cast. Ohio has already passed its entire 2022 early vote, with early voting still under way. Independents: 44.9% Democrats: 29.0% Republicans: 25.9% A milestone: on Wednesday and Thursday, independents cast a majority of all in-person ballots, 50% and then 53%. That’s the first time in this election. Independents now lead Democrats by about 236,000 ballots and Republicans by about 282,000. They outnumber Democrats in every county in Ohio except Cuyahoga. The two parties are still fighting over what’s left. Republicans have won four straight days, and Thursday was their best day of the cycle at about 4,700 ballots. The Democratic lead over Republicans is down to about 46,100, from 54,000 on Monday. Using the same party labels for both years, 2026 is about 8 points more Democratic than 2024 at this point. A week ago it was 10. That gap is closing. Independents also hold 75% of the mail ballots still outstanding. Two parties are fighting over a shrinking share of the vote.
