Learning how to swing trade CAN-SLIM style. Unusual options activity a secondary interest. Market-level gamma stuff and ES daytrading on the back burner.

Thank you so much. We put in a lot of effort to think how to make these tutorials and the best way anyone can grasp it. Our tool was also built with the same thought, every tab should flow in the way traders think, find information and trade. We might take down our sneak peak of what is coming but sharing it only for you on what we are building. Please do like, retweet so we can get things out soon.

Today I learned firsthand how little @Seagate cares for its retail customers. I need to exchange a new drive that arrived DOA. After two hours in chat, they tell me they will get back to me in "24 business hours" with a "solution". May need to file a claim with my credit card co.

I am continually amazed at how well stocks respect pitchforks. $PALL finding support at the median line.

$HEI I wasn't watching it close enough. Maybe I can catch a pullback. The linear regression channel on the flag is interesting. I am not sure if that could indicate a "breakout" level lower than the ATH.

A couple of people asked how I narrow down my watchlist. Over the years, I’ve built a framework that fits me, my personality, my risk tolerance, & my style. It keeps me focused on the strongest names with the highest probability of continuation. Here’s exactly what I look for: I want to preface first, if the chart doesn’t speak my language and the sector isn’t moving, I don’t care how pretty the base is... it won’t make my list. Again, this framework fits me, my personality, and the way I trade momentum and weekly breakouts. It keeps me focused, reduces noise, and puts me in front of names with the highest odds of continuation. 1) Theme/Sector STRENGTH comes first: This is something I ignored early on, and it cost me big. You can have the cleanest VCP/big base in the world… but if the sector is weak? If the theme is cold? If capital is flowing elsewhere? Your setup has a fraction of the probability you think it does. Theme/Sector > Stock That’s the hierarchy, the bread n buttaa! I’ve learned this from experience: When semis lead, the best setups come from $NVDA, $AMD, $MU, $AVGO. When AI leads → $PLTR, $META, $NVDA again When EVs heat up → $TSLA, $RIVN When energy runs → $XOM, $CVX When crypto moves → $COIN, $MARA, $IREN If you pick the wrong theme, you’re fighting the market. If you pick the right theme, even your worst entries can get bailed out. This is why environment always comes first. The strongest technical setups arise where institutional money is rotating. I sometimes think of it like a boat... themes create the wind, and technical setups are the sail. 2) Liquid, High Beta Stocks: Liquidity is essential for my selection. High beta = range and speed. (I use ATR/ADR%) Higher priced stocks usually indicate institutional involvement. If a stock can’t move or attract real money, it won’t match my style. 3) Price > $10 (Preferably > $20–$50): Cheap stocks are cheap for a reason. High quality names live higher up the price ladder. Just think about it, institutions are not buying penny stocks under $10; that's too much risk for them. The best breakouts come from stocks institutions are willing to size into. AKA stocks above $10 > 4) Strong Institutional Sponsorship: I LOOK FOR high dollar volume. and I’m not reading filings, I'm just searching for technical footprints. Volume patterns reveal: - accumulation - distribution - exhaustion - absorption - trend character When volume on the right side of a base expands in a trend, while pullbacks come on low volume? That’s probably a good sign institutions are building a position quietly. 5) Above 9/21/50 EMAs: The 9 tells me momentum. The 21 tells me structure. The 50 tells me trend. All three in alignment = green light. 6) Key Inflection Pivots (AVWAP, VPOC, Key Pivots): This is how I control risk. Every trade I take has a clear “if/then” level: - if it holds structure → I stay - if it breaks structure → I cut I've realized over the years that AVWAPs and VPOC shelves are magnets for liquidity and turning points I look for on a chart. I really only look at Volume Profile on the Weekly. Risk for me is tightest at these levels, which is why they matter for my selection. Every stock I trade must check all boxes: - strong theme/sector - strong relative strength - clean weekly base - above the EMAs - clear volume story - clear inflection points - liquid, higher priced, high beta stocks If it misses even one of these, it’s not a priority. This selection framework has saved me years of pain. It keeps me out of garbage setups, low quality names, and random momentum traps. Theme/sector first. Price/volume structure second. Execution last. That’s been the core of my growth as a trader, and the backbone of every good trade I take.

I’m celebrating my 9th Black Friday with TradingView, and they’re giving away two FREE Annual Subscriptions (Ultimate and Premium) to two lucky followers. To enter: 🔁 Retweet 📷 Follow me and @tradingview Winners will be announced next Wednesday — good luck!
This will mark my 8th year of Black Friday using Tradingview. Here are 8 FREE public scripts I highly recommend exploring to refine your workflow, templates, or layouts. They’re listed alphabetically by script name: 1. **ADR% - Average Daily Range %** - By @zerokapital tradingview.com/v/ss2QgCWi/ Use this to study the historical ADR% of securities and analyze how momentum stocks develop and build their volatility patterns. 2. **ATR% Multiple from 50-MA** - Credits to @DumbleDax tradingview.com/v/oimVgV7e/ My favorite tool for profit-taking or extension signals in setups. It’s also helpful for index analysis to gauge when to scale back on risk exposure. 3. **EPS & Sales** - By @DumbleDax tradingview.com/v/WiaFmLGR/ Arguably the best EPS & Sales script available. It integrates earnings, sales, beats, and guidance into your charts via table format or below price template, as seen in my trading ideas and stock update. 4. **Financials on Chart** - By @tradingview tradingview.com/v/Lbxl9OqZ/ A fantastic on-chart display of up to 9 fundamentals (Qtr/Yr) of your choice from over 100 options, including PEG, Earnings Yield, Price to Free Cash Flow Ratio, and ROIC%. This is great for your long-term investment overview without referencing to another 3rd party website for fundamental data. 5. **Industry Group Strength** - By @amphtrading tradingview.com/v/5NsvcOVp/ This indicator helps you pinpoint the best-performing stocks within specific industry groups. My default template lists the top 5 RS stocks from the same industry as the stock I’m analyzing. @amphtrading also offers 41+ free scripts, making him one of the most generous contributors to our TradingView community. 6. **Range Tightening Indicator** - By @Ollie_AllCaps tradingview.com/script/yaIen… A price-tightening indicator using a lookback period. It’s also useful for identifying the "rate of change" of potential bottoms or tops, as highlighted by Stanley Druckenmiller in his podcast with Nicolai Tangen. 7. **Simple Volume with Pocket Pivots** - By @finallynitin tradingview.com/v/JkB0iCFp/ The most versatile volume script, in my opinion, offering extensive customization for color coding, dollar volume, RVOL, and more. 8. **Swing Data** - Credits to @DumbleDax tradingview.com/v/uloAa2EI/ This table consolidates essential data for swing traders in a simple format, providing everything you need to improve trading execution & efficiency. If you found this post helpful and valuable, consider retweeting🔁to spread the words to support their efforts and encourage future updates and enhancements. I hope these scripts will prove beneficial on your trading journey.

As I mentioned in reply to another post, I built a TV indicator that shows multiples of ATR% above the 50d SMA, building off of @jfsrev work. I'm not a programmer. I offer it as is. I don't know how to "publish" it on TV, but you are welcome to copy the code into your own.

you should be able to copy all of the above into Pine Editor in TV, name it and save it. It's really pretty simple. Enjoy

Well, I hit the publish button in TV, filled out a few things, and it was immediately published!? I had heard horror stories about the process. Anyway, here is the link to not have to do the copy and paste bit. tradingview.com/script/Eqxee… Even got several likes already. Go figure :)

Volume Profile is one of the most powerful tools in trading — but most traders only scratch the surface. Here’s how to read it properly (and why I use the most detailed view possible): 🧵

The subconscious foundation of overtrading behaviours is rooted in scarcity or the belief of “not doing enough to win/to succeed” or of “not being enough” by simply being just as you are which is sitting still. The subconscious “colours” conscious thoughts of the person with these overtones, so when they convert to action (trading decisions) these decisions appear to the conscious mind to be “out of line” with its plans. The conscious and subconscious partitions of the mind need to work in harmony. This balance is healed through the following steps. The will (persistence) is required for following the steps below day in day out. 1) working on building “faith” / trust in yourself first. That you are enough and that simply sitting still is enough. It is cultivating the belief that you will succeed by just sitting still at times. 2) working on building “faith” / trust in the “process” (ie the conscious plan of rules and actions in relation to trading decisions). This involves more studying, seeing successful setups performing again and again in the past and finessing the correct criteria. It’s the obvious work that everyone talks about. You must study and refresh your knowledge repeatedly especially when in a rut. This is all to do with the conscious mind, ie the thinker. But less talked about is the balancing of the subconscious ideations (ie the feel) in relation to this - One must repeatedly invoke patience for the trust to cultivate. Patience is the trust that any single daily or monthly result is not a reflection of successful working on the process. It’s a daily mental discipline. Patience is the trust that you performing poorly on any particular day is not a reflection of your overall skill or ability or your long term success. 3) the trading experience gained needs to be framed correctly in the conscious mind as it is being processed and stored. Every experience is perfect and complete, and this completeness must be seen: every aspect of experience has a positive and a negative side. It’s a daily mental discipline to balance and frame this correctly: - A horror show trading day’s negative side is so obvious and dominant it seems it doesn’t have a positive side, but it is there and it needs to be enlarged in the mind to balance the negative: a horror show trading day is beautiful because it contains lessons clues to be learned uniquely by you, and ultimately to learn more about yourself and have the opportunity to evolve yourself into a more desirable state. -A blockbuster trading day has a negative side: it may trigger your complacency and lead to poor discipline down the line as you become negligent - if you don’t appreciate the negative side of this experience that is. So the daily mental discipline in relation to this is to find the right balance for framing your trading day. A devotion to following the (1)-(3) practice above will lead to growth in being able to apply your process to the market and follow it with greater success.
