Claude Code just found proof that every app on your phone is listening to your conversations. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat. they're using what you say out loud to build your feed. i have the data to prove it.
i've suspected this for months but last week something happened that made me finally check.
i was on a call with my friend and told him i'm thinking about breaking up with my girlfriend. didn't text it. didn't search it. just said it out loud with my phone on the table. two hours later she opens TikTok next to me and her entire feed is breakups. "signs your relationship is over." "how to heal after a breakup." she looked at me and said "why is TikTok showing me this." i said i don't know. but i did know.
i connected my iPhone to my MacBook and ran Claude Code that same night.
it scanned every app's background microphone activity for the last 90 days. not just the apps that asked for microphone permission. apps that were supposed to only have access to photos or location but were activating the microphone anyway.
what it found:
→ TikTok activated the microphone 347 times while the app was "closed" in the background
→ Instagram → 211 background activations
→ Facebook → 189
→ Snapchat → 94
every activation lasted between 3 and 15 seconds. enough to catch a sentence. every one of them tagged a keyword and cached it locally on the phone with a timestamp.
Claude Code pulled the full keyword cache:
→ "breakup" — tagged 4 hours before her feed changed
→ "moving out" — from a conversation with my mom last Tuesday
→ "wedding venue" — from a call with my sister about her engagement that i never searched once
→ "protein powder" — said it out loud to my roommate, had ads for it within an hour
→ "flight to tokyo" — mentioned it at dinner, saw travel ads the same night
those keywords were sitting in a local cache on my phone organized by app with timestamps. TikTok had the most entries. Instagram was second. every single keyword matched a conversation i had out loud near my phone.
the scariest one was "wedding venue." my sister told me she's getting engaged on a private call. i never searched it. never typed it. within a day my explore page had engagement rings and venue tours.
then Claude Code checked a second phone in the same room. my girlfriend's. same keywords. same timestamps. both phones were picking up the same conversation and tagging it independently.
i asked Claude Code how to shut it down. it mapped every app's microphone access and built a permission audit.
what i did:
→ revoked microphone access from every app that doesn't need it to function
→ disabled background app refresh for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat
→ turned off "Hey Siri" which keeps the microphone in passive listening mode 24/7
→ revoked "nearby interaction" permission which uses ultrasonic audio between devices
Claude Code confirmed all four apps lost background microphone access after the changes. i checked her phone too. same steps. took about 3 minutes per phone.
within 48 hours both our feeds went completely random. generic content. nothing personal. nothing from our conversations. that's when i knew for sure it was real.
the full step by step and the prompt are in the first reply. takes 3 minutes. save it so you don't lose it and send it to anyone who's ever said "my phone is definitely listening to me." it is. now you can prove it and shut it down.

In another historic milestone for NordSpace, the Honourable David J. McGuinty @DavidMcGuinty, Minister of National Defence, announced yesterday that NordSpace has been awarded a $20M, 10-year contract with the Department of National Defence at the Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX) in Newfoundland and Labrador. The ASX is Canada’s largest spaceport, and being built from the ground up to support light, medium and heavy-lift rockets, starting with NordSpace’s own Tundra and Tempest vehicles.
This is the first contract of its kind between the DND and a Canadian commercial launch company developing both launch vehicles and launch pads. It uniquely positions NordSpace as Canada’s sovereign launch provider, a result of us being Canada’s only fully vertically integrated space missions company. Owning our own spaceport allows us the cadence and control necessary to operate at scale for both domestic and allied needs.
Under the Facility Access Agreement (FAA) contract:
🚀 DND secures priority access to a dedicated launch pad at ASX, available to conduct urgent activities related to national security.
🚨 DND secures priority call on NordSpace launch capacity in the event of a matter of national security requiring urgent deployment of payloads to orbit.
🛰️ Over the 10-year term, NordSpace will prepare its facilities, vehicles, spacecraft, and operations for secure responsive sovereign launch, from Canadian soil, on Canadian timelines, under Canadian control.
We intend to go beyond the baseline commitments of the contract by working toward always having our Tundra launch vehicle paired with several of our Aquila-class spacecraft buses available and on standby at ASX. The posture is designed to allow any DND mission to be integrated onto Aquila, launched aboard Tundra, and operated on orbit within a target window of 24 to 72 hours.
This is the model the United States Space Force has demonstrated through its Tactically Responsive Space program, and the capability Canada now needs to build for itself. The target responsiveness is only credible because NordSpace is vertically integrated, designing, building, and operating the rocket, the spacecraft, the propulsion systems, the ground systems, and the spaceport itself. A truly sovereign responsive launch capability has to be owned, end to end, by a Canadian company under Canadian control.
We are working closely with 3 Canadian Space Division (3 CSD) to purpose-build the capability around the real operational needs of the Canadian Armed Forces.
The contract sits inside a broader vision now being executed in parallel across every layer of our vertically integrated program:
🛰️ Terra Nova is operating in orbit, testing common hardware and operations at TRL-9 across our launch and space systems, as the first Canadian launch company operating its own hardware in space.
🏗️ At ASX, Phase 2 construction is underway at SLC-01, targeting Spring 2027 completion ahead of made-in-Canada orbital launch NET 2028.
🏭 At Rocket Factory 1 in Markham, the Tundra orbital launch vehicle is making rapid progress leveraging advanced manufacturing in metal additive and automated composites.
🚀 Our Taiga suborbital vehicle is awaiting flight pending final regulatory approval as the first ever commercially authorized launch in Canada. Taiga will evolve into VERTEX, a nationwide sovereign Canadian suborbital launch platform ahead of Tundra’s first orbital flight.
Each of these milestones is in service of the same commitment: launching Canadian rockets, carrying Canadian payloads, from Canadian soil, when Canada needs it.
We are grateful to the DND and Hon. Minister McGuinty and the 3CSD and BGen Christopher Horner for their partnership and trust.

Xanadu has secured a landmark CAD $195 million for Project OPTIMISM, the largest government investment in quantum manufacturing in Canadian history.
As part of Project OPTIMISM, we’re launching Inception, a 158,000 sq. ft. advanced photonics R&D and manufacturing facility.
Inception is designed to enable the scalable production of the components that will power future quantum data centres, which are expected to deliver commercially meaningful solutions.
We’re scaling the global future of photonic quantum hardware, right here in Toronto.

Canada just made its largest quantum investment in history.
$195 million CAD, repayable, to Xanadu Quantum Technologies, to build a photonics manufacturing plant called Inception, named after the Christopher Nolan film.
It’s going up in Etobicoke, in an old Campbell’s Soup factory. 🥫
158,000 square feet, 275 new jobs.
Xanadu builds photonic quantum computers that run at room temperature, unlike most quantum systems that need extreme cold.
It’s only half the funding Xanadu asked for. They’re still waiting on a matching $195 million from Ontario.
A soup factory is about to start making quantum computer components instead.
