In 1991 less than 17% of England's bathing waters were excellent. Today, it's over 73%.
Yet the narrative is that things have got worse, and it's somehow worse to swim in the sea today than at any time in the past.
4.7% of 257 comparable bathing waters were rated Poor in 2025. My estimate for the same waters in 1991 is nearly half, from re-rating Environment Agency sampling data. The standards changed in 2015, so treat the comparison as indicative.

There is a pattern of rule breaking in Reform and it goes right to the top:
17 breaches of the code of conduct for £384,000 in late declarations.
Thousands in undeclared donations from George Cottrell.
An undeclared £5m personal ‘gift’ to Farage still under Commons investigation.
Robert Jenrick and Richard Tice under police investigation for separate alleged offences.
Now officials filmed plotting to dodge donation law.
Leader of Reform Scotland tells Times Radio that they have legal advice saying they have done nothing wrong 🤷♂️.
Why does Reform think the rules don’t apply to them?
Every serious party accepts the rules on donations and transparency.
If they have nothing to hide, they should welcome a full and independent investigation by the Electoral Commission and the Met Police, not resist one.

I’ve watched this investigation carefully. It has Reform UK banged to rights in conspiring to accept illegal donations. Two of Nigel Farage’s most senior aides have already been shown the door.
Coming tonight: Channel 4 News and @Verbatim_Media reveal an undercover investigation inside Reform UK.
Watch at 7pm on Channel 4 or YouTube.

I definitely think we should have more of this in our lives.

I think this football ground is The Nest ( the team moved from there in 1924 to Selhurst Park. )
If you think differently please let me know.

£65m is not new money, to suggest it is shows Labour has not changed, and is again trying to gaslight the countryside into believing they are on our side.
Andy is not visiting my farm; if he was, he’d hear how his government’s failure on Bluetongue is devastating livestock in the South West.
I know I’ve got work to do to win the trust of Britain’s farmers.
Today we’re putting £65m more into supporting farmers through this drought and preparing for the summers ahead.
They’re on the frontline of a changing climate and they shouldn’t be left to face it alone.
The ability to grow our own food is national security. I’ll treat it that way.

The £65m is reprioritised from Defra's existing farming budget, not new money from the Treasury. Total agricultural spending remains unchanged as funds are diverted from other departmental programmes. fwi.co.uk/news/burnham-a… defrafarming.blog.gov.uk/2026/08/15/new…

The Sunday Times has obtained a copy of Farage’s maiden speech, which he gave Cottrell shortly after his election.
By then the criminal had been bankrolling Farage for some time.
Today the speech lies in Cottrell’s Montenegro penthouse.
Farage wrote: “thank you for everything”
EXCLUSIVE
Nigel Farage failed to declare that a criminal and crypto gambler paid for his staff, security, drivers, social media output in year before election
Reform leader has also received free accommodation in Westminster from George Cottrell as MP

Two women who’ve done so much to instil a love of reading in children, and to support female survivors of abuse
📕 With a shared passion for books and a deep commitment to children reading for pleasure, The Queen and author J.K. Rowling have met at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
Her Majesty and Ms Rowling discussed the importance of ensuring that young people have access to books and the vital part reading plays in opening doors for future generations.

Ivory Coast v Norway is the World Cup Round of 32 match that best shows the absurdity of the Mercator Projection.
Despite Norway being shown on most maps as far larger than Ivory Coast, the two countries are actually almost identically sized. Ivory Coast is 322,463 km², and Norway: 323,802 km².

Fantastic result in my constituency!
22-year-old George Braeckman has taken a ward the Lib Dems have held since 1995.
In one fell swoop he’s ended 3 decades of Lib Dem control and put Reform in third place 🎉
So good to see Young Conservatives stepping up. Congrats, George!

This is blatant.
Reform leaflets, with Farage plastered all over them, were explicit. “Reduce waste and cut your taxes”
When caught red handed he says “Cutting taxes can be not putting them up as much”
He’s treating voters as fools.

Refrom identify with the left, it is made evident here by Banks who only wishes for the Conservative party to be ‘destroyed’ but wants the dangerous Greens and incompetent Labour Party to thrive.
We’d soon find out what incompetence looks like with a Refrom government opposed by Labour or the Greens. Ruinous for Britain but a vengeful utopia of power and influence for the likes of Banks.

More interested in attacking Conservatives than exposing the damage Labour is doing, Farage takes time out to attack Charlotte for a fun run in 2011 when this foundation was campaigning for gay marriage.
This is beneath you, Nigel.
And a pretty rancid comment to boot 🤮(1/2)
Kemi Badenoch said there would be a “new generation” of Tory candidates who would reflect core conservative values.
It’s not going well.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
While factually true, the video omits critical context. Charlotte's "fundraising" was a 10k charity run in 2011, and she has since then disassociated herself from the charity for many years over disagreement with its direction.

We are expected patiently to accept the unending heartache of one special landscape after the next concreted over for ugly housing development, vital farmland lost forever, precious rivers choked with effluent. We’re told that house building targets must be met, because housing constraints are preventing young people from getting on the housing ladder, and housing is becoming far too expensive for most Brits. This is largely accepted to be true, so conservationists don’t complain. We just plead for a little nature to be left round the edges, and for the most beautiful places to be spared. Deep down we know where this leads. Simple mathematics says we will continue to build until there are no dark skies or quiet dells remaining. Perhaps not in our lifetime, but eventually. Then reports like this one by @MigrationWatch reveal the whole thing to be worse than a scam, rather an unprecedented exercise in social engineering (and landscape destruction) started under Blair’s New Labour and perpetuated by one government after the next ever since. Unmanageable numbers of people are invited to relocate to our small island, in the millions, many of whom arrive from places and cultures which truly loathe us and everything we stand for, lured by the promise of free everything, free money, and *free housing*. All these new houses blanketing our world-renowned landscapes do next to nothing to fix the very real problem of not enough housing, because they’re given away like confetti, at vast taxpayer expense, to new arrivals. The whole thing is a total and utter outrage.
47.6% of all social housing in London is occupied by immigrants - and the establishment still pretends there's no connection between mass migration and the housing crisis.

Badenoch’s profile continues to rise, after she initially had to deal with a bankrupt party haemorrhaging members.
