In my book The Gnostic Question, I argued that liberalism's ultimate tendency is emancipation from the given: freeing the sovereign individual from all unchosen bonds, identities and obligations.
In a pluralist society with no shared conception of the good, freedom becomes something entirely negative – freedom from all constraints – and autonomy and consent become all-consuming moral principles.
This logic must eventually extend to all that is unchosen, even the most intimate and natural human relationships like the bond between grandparents and their grandchildren.

Catch my new jazz fusion project, Benevolent Worm, at the Turf Club this Saturday. Doors at 7, show at 8. Plausible Deniability opens.
Replying to @jakemintz @Suhail
If there are exploitable can’t OAI just make a benevolent worm to patch them all

so for all the people that think their phone has been listening and targeting ads even though it is almost impossible, it just might have been the tv in the room and that is basically verified xitter.cf/0x0SojalSec/status/211…
WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners.
Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads.
Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was.
Got a root shell.
then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems.
This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.

Von Der Leyen comparing Orban's defeat to the 56 insurrection is absolutely despicable and tells you everything you need to know about the fanaticism, the autocratic pulse and the stupidity of the current EU leadership. Scary.
Six months ago, Hungary voted for a new chapter.
Turning the page on years of eroded freedoms and trust.
And the banks of the Danube who saw people march and die 70 years ago.
That night saw people dance and celebrate a revived democracy in Hungary.
Once again, a powerful message of hope was sent to the world.
Basically, to be a great Bond -- you have to be exceptionally handsome but have a face that could look like it could a punch.
The two actors who(-se tenures/casting) did the most damage to the cinematic Bond are Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.
Both excellent actors, to be clear. But the former fully crossed an already thin line into camp in a way that almost made the character effete, and the latter convinced the world that Bond needs to have supermodel good looks. If one even considers sex appeal to be an integral aspect of the character, the allure with 007 was always the sense of mystery and danger he evinced despite his outward gentility.
He would be the sort of man a woman would fall for without really being able to articulate why.

It's hard to think of a service that's declined as much as Airbnb. To stay in someone's apartment, there's a good chance the bill will rival a Four Seasons resort and it probably comes with an extensive chore chart. There's almost zero reason not to stay in a hotel at this point.
I just got an email from Airbnb laying out new ground rules for what hosts can demand of guests, and THANK GOD.
At my last Airbnb, I had to strip the beds, wash every dish, clean the kitchen, haul the trash out to the road, and there was still a $100 cleaning fee!

Open source is free like a puppy is free.
(Vibe-coded software is worse.)
You pay for everything after it: the food, the vet, the walks in the rain, the chewed couch.
Free software -- or vibe-coded software -- works the same way. Your customer pays in setup time, in hours spent training the team, and in workarounds. When the tool breaks, nobody is there to fix it.
So when a prospect says a free tool does the same thing, your price isn't the problem. They haven't seen the bill for "free" yet.
Don't defend your price, and don't apologize with a discount. Turn the objection around:
"If you think I'm expensive, you should see how expensive 'free' is."
Then explain why: the onboarding, the training, the bugs-fixed, the new features, the integrations to ever-changing external systems, the zero-day security patches, and on and on -- things they would have to do themselves, not just for the cost of the tokens, but their time.
And at what hourly rate I wonder? Most people don't think their time is worth $1/hour, but that might be how they're acting.

3% of “critical” software security bugs, in all of recorded history, have been found in the last month.
This is on pace to find another ~100,000 bugs this year alone, adding ~26% more vulnerabilities to the all time total
Do you realize how fucking insane that is?

Tom Skerritt was pure class; every time he stepped in front of a camera, he delivered.
Once described as a “character actor locked in a leading man’s body,” he made it all look effortless.
Rest easy, Viper.

For those also saying how “impossible” it is to increase meaningfully increase power or jumping ability ⬇️
Apparently this guy is 64 years old and did this for 6 weeks
From a physiological perspective it should be well understood by now that you can improve your jump height a lot

Unpopular opinion: your results with AI largely depend on how smart you are
Fun fact: Anglo-Saxons liked to give their kids names starting with sæx, which meant a knife. These included the boys’ names Sæxbald (“knife-bold”), Sæxberht (“knife-bright”), Sæxfrið (“knife-peace”), Sæxgar (“knife-spear”), Sæxhelm (“knife helmet”), Sæxleof (“knife-beloved”), Sæxling (“little knife” 🥺), Sæxred (“knife counsel”), Sæxric (“knife king”), Sæxweard (“knife guard”), Sæxwine (“knife friend”), and Sæxwulf (“knife wolf”), as well as the girls’ name Sæxburg (“knife fortress”).
Ah Europe! Never change!
