bruh, software companies are about to have their second coming. those stocks are going to go bonkers when Wallstreet realises that AI “enables” software. can’t wait to dig this up a year from now.

They already have, but it was limited to North America. They announced today that they're taking it global

The part I think you're missing is that there are folks like me that use Google a lot lately as I use a lot of AI tooling. It's important to me to double check whatever outputs I get from models and to do my own research on the side. I'm searching a lot more now that I ever have. So I'm unsurprised there. There's really ever any product that grows to the sky, so it makes sense that Search is declining. I agree with your position on the emerging new business model - Cloud Infrastructure. Search is going to keep growing but not as fast as the base is now quite large

@firstadopter blocked me off disagreeing with his opinion on Google. I think I was a bit too hard on him there 😅 I just went to see how he's doing considering OpenAI is looking to use TPUs and found that I'd been blocked. We need less Nvidia-pilled journalists.

Not sure how you're using your devices and browsers but I'm finding that I'm clicking more links and searching in my URL bar a lot more lately.

I think Google is fine coming from behind. They don't have to rush their way into responding to bots until they have a solid model underneath. They're pushing hard for this and it takes time. 9 women can't have a baby in 1 month. I'll let them cook.

Niceee!
Introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, it's a big jump over Argon which we released just 2 weeks ago. Gemini 4 Carbon is SOTA on cyber, long horizon tasks, ranks #1 on Artificial Analysis V5, significantly improves on usability in domains like coding, and is more aligned.

Google is now an infrastructure business. That's the fastest growing segment they have now

Imagine being Meta and not being considered a competitor despite spending so many billions
Anthropic S-1 $ANT states their primary competitors are OpenAI and $GOOG

Like I said, my money is on Dario Amodei.
imagine being so smart that your college professor calls you a “national treasure” and personally asks elon musk and larry page to hire you and musk actually ends up offering you a job at spacex. this was dario amodei in college

Germans are so mechanical and sometimes inflexible. The US system shows a bit more flexibility and adjusts to accomodate the individual. In Germany, the individual is forced to bend to the structure to ensure uniformity across board.

Disagreement is not assholery. It's okay and perfectly normal to disagree. Denigrating people is not okay.

One incredible detail is that this happened publicly. One can only imagine how nasty folks like this are privately to other engineers.

Bruh, it's hard to tell what the source is, but generally, every time I return to Germany, it hits me. Folks aren't "visibly" happy here. Glum is the word.

Prediction: Google drops out of the frontier model race and chooses to focus on infrastructure.
