75% of Ukrainians are now open to peace talks while only 21% oppose. This is perfectly understandable, given they are losing 27,000 men a month, according to Donald Tusk. The war’s been going for almost five years, so you can do the maths.

It's not always haram. Liberals definition is very narrow. They don't consider Husband emergency need. Also in war its is allowed.

A fascinating read - now I understand much more of what is going on -

This article brings me back to something I’ve spoken about many times. In the 1980s I saw people who had taken overdoses after discovering that sex reassignment hadn’t cured their existing problems. They had changed their bodies but the problems were still there.
In those days, individuals were expected to spend two years living in their preferred gender role, with psychological assessment and psychotherapy before surgery. I think that time matters. We need to understand what the person thinks these interventions are going to do for them, and help them understand the limits of what transition can achieve.
The numbers have gone up exponentially and the demographic changed. We are seeing many more neurodivergent young adults presenting when they go to university, fearful of the adult world and not feeling they fit in. Questions start getting asked about intimate relationships, how they are going to manage independently and what contribution they might make to adult life.
The people I’m describing often feel detached from their body. They don’t really feel they own it, but they are also struggling to establish a mind of their own. It’s almost as if they believe they have to do something concrete and drastic to their body before they can claim it as their own.
Many are riddled with self-hatred feeling they don’t measure up to an ideal of who they should be. That hatred is often directed towards the body, particularly the aspects they cannot control and find intolerable. They are desperately looking for a solution that doesn’t involve understanding any of this. Thinking about it is resisted because it threatens to bring back the doubt and confusion they have projected out. They create a sort of avatar in their mind and believe that becoming this person through medical transition will cure their problems.
As I say in Identity and the Foundational Myth, over several years they can develop a belief system that explains their struggles through the idea that they were born in the wrong body. In the cases I’m talking about, I think this is a false explanation that provides cover for underlying anxieties and conflicts. We need to understand what is going on behind the belief.
I’ve also seen the casualties: people who have had medical interventions and regret them. They hadn’t appreciated that surgeons can imitate aspects of natural biology but cannot reproduce its full workings. Afterwards, they have to live with the problems they had before and the additional problems caused by medication and surgery. Turning 18 doesn’t suddenly mean someone understands what this might mean for the rest of their life.
And scandalously, the Levy review found that adult services didn’t have the outcome data needed to know how people were doing or properly assess the safety of their care. Why aren’t we following people up systematically and finding out?
We need to know whether these expensive, irreversible interventions help people live productive lives, have relationships and make the contribution to society they want to make. How are they getting on in middle age? What has happened to the problems they hoped transition would resolve?
The Finnish study found that psychiatric treatment needs did not subside after medical transition. It doesn’t answer the question about middle age, but it should make us want to find out more. We don’t seem very interested in what happens to people in the years afterwards.
This is why I think a period of psychotherapy before irreversible interventions is so important. It should help the individual understand their own motives and beliefs, so they are in a better position to think about what they want, what they hope treatment will achieve and the risks involved.
In the end, individuals have to decide how best to live their own lives. But a slow process, with time for reflection, can help them become more self-aware and make more informed decisions.

Islam and transgenderism are the new patriarchy.
Both erase womens sex-based rights, police free speech, punish dissent, and demand women submit.
"Islamophobia" and "transphobia" are the enforcement mechanisms.
In the UK, questioning either can get you arrested and imprisoned.

Modern medicine will test a healthy person until it finds something it can treat for life.
If your blood pressure is normal, they lower the line until it isn't.
If your cholesterol is normal, they run your age through a calculator and prescribe anyway.
If your sugar is normal, they lower that line too, and now you are prediabetic.
If your bones are normal for your age, they measure them against a thirty-year-old's.
If your kidneys are normal for your age, they call it chronic kidney disease.
If your weight is normal, they redraw the chart and you wake up overweight.
If your neck is normal, they scan it and find a nodule.
If your vitamin D is normal, they raise the bar until most of the country is short.
If your grief is normal, they give it two weeks and diagnose depression.
If your child is normal but the youngest in the class, they diagnose the birthday as ADHD.
If every test is normal, they sell you a scan of your whole body.
If the scan is normal, they call it a baseline and book you in for next year.
Each time the definition widened, somebody was already standing by with the treatment.
When the cholesterol line came down, eight of the nine experts who moved it had been paid by statin makers.
When osteopenia arrived, the company selling the bone drug helped get the scanners into doctors' surgeries.
Nobody ever made a penny sending a healthy person home.

I wonder what future generations will think of us when they discover that humanity possessed more wealth, knowledge, and resources than ever before, yet still allowed children to fall asleep hungry, parents to sacrifice their lives simply trying to survive, and millions to suffer through circumstances we already had the ability to change.
How we could understand the human body in extraordinary detail, yet allow people to die because they couldn't afford treatment.
How we could connect billions of people, yet struggle to understand the person standing right beside us.
How we could study thousands of years of human suffering, corruption, and exploitation, yet continue repeating the very mistakes we claimed to have learned from.
And how we could spend so much of our brief existence deciding who deserved compassion, when another person's suffering should have been reason enough to care.
Because when I look at this world, I don't see billions of enemies divided by borders, beliefs, or political affiliations.
I see human beings who never asked to be born into these circumstances, carrying pain others cannot see, loving people they are terrified of losing, and sacrificing the only life they will ever have in the hope that those they love might have a better one.
And it breaks my heart that we have been taught to fight one another while sharing so many of the same fears, struggles, and hopes.
Perhaps the person you have been taught to hate is lying awake tonight, worrying about their children, just as you have worried about yours.
Perhaps you have both been given different explanations for the same suffering.
And perhaps the greatest tragedy is how much of our humanity we have already sacrificed without ever questioning who benefits from our division.
Because the question should never have been which side would win, but how many human lives would be broken before we finally understood that everyone deserved the chance to truly live.

When are the so-called progressive left going to wake up and realise?
I wanted to be able to find something good in Islam, because we’ve all been told for the last 25 years that it’s this wonderful religion being twisted by extremists, but that’s just not true and once you admit that to yourself it’s very freeing.
Islam is, objectively, a _terrible_ religion, with a two-tier system of morality that treats Muslims well and everyone else badly. And that’s before you even mention the barbarous treatment of women, which is damning enough on its own to condemn the whole thing, even if the rest of it had value. But it doesn’t. Jihad — war — is one of the five pillars, ffs.
Islam condones slavery, forced marriage, domestic violence, the rape of children, and the genital mutilation of women and girls. The countries where it holds sway are horrible places to live, especially for women, and the more devout the country is, the worse it is to live there. Even places like Turkey, which is officially secular, have young girls sold into marriage with adult men, and incredibly high rates of femicide and domestic violence. In countries like Yemen and Afghanistan, up to 30% of girls are sold into marriage as children — and these customs are being imported into the West.
Islam offers Muslim men full control over Muslim women. It offers Muslim women nothing but the chance to bear the next generation of Muslim men.
