The Ruling Arab Moors from Egypt down to the tip of the horn and on the other side in Muza, Hadramaut, Seychelles, Soctra, parts of Oman extending down Zanguebar towards Sofala were Darod Berber. Cooley-1849: Brief Abstract of a Memoir on the Cinnamon Region of Eastern Africa Also, Look up plate 34 of Phillipe Vandermaellan’s Atlas Universal for the DUARTE BARBOSA placement of Axum. 🤭
Cursory accounts of Zeyla (Zeila), Barbara (Berbera), and Met (Maydh) recorded by the Portuguese official Duarte Barbosa [c. 1516–1518]. The Portuguese text is from an early 16th-century manuscript transcribed and published for the first time by the Academia Real das Sciências in Lisbon [1812], paired alongside the English translation published by the Hakluyt Society [1866]. Because the 1866 Hakluyt edition was translated from a 1524 Spanish copy rather than the Portuguese manuscript, it omits several details preserved in the 1812 Portuguese text, notably the export of opium from Berbera and the Portuguese sackings of both ports. Zeyla (Zeila) Barbosa records Zeila as a place of great trade ("lugar de muyto trato") where foreign vessels discharged cloth and general merchandise. The town featured well-ordered streets and terraced stone and lime houses. The local economy possessed many horses, extensive livestock herds providing milk, butter, and meat, and regional harvests of wheat, millet, barley, and fruit exported across the gulf to Aden. The 1812 Portuguese text documents that Zeila was stormed and destroyed in 1517 by a Portuguese armada commanded by Governor Lopo Soares de Albergaria upon his return from Juda (Jeddah). Barbara (Berbera) Described as a notable coastal settlement and harbour visited regularly by merchant ships from Aden and Cambay (Khambat). Merchants from Cambay exported gold, ivory, opium (amfiam), and assorted trade goods, whilst those from Aden loaded abundant stores of provisions, meat, honey, and beeswax. The 1812 Portuguese text notes that Berbera was attacked, sacked, and burned in 1518 by a Portuguese fleet under António de Saldanha before his squadron sailed for Ormuz (Hormuz). Met (Maydh) Recorded as a small settlement of little trade situated further east along the coast towards Cape Guardafui. Barbosa notes that whilst its commercial activity was negligible compared to Zeila or Berbera, the locality maintained plentiful meat supplies.

Abu Dhabi's Grip on the Maldives: Mohamed Alabbar and the 99-Year Deal to Control Ras Malé's Land Confidential sources have revealed to Dark Box that the UAE is seeking to expand its economic influence in the Maldives through billionaire Mohamed Alabbar and his company, Eagle Hills. Under the proposed deal, the Abu Dhabi-based developer would secure development rights over approximately 500 hectares, nearly half of the Ras Malé project originally intended to address the country's housing crisis, for 99 years, without an upfront acquisition fee or conventional rent. Suspicions are mounting over the absence of a competitive tender or independent land valuation, alongside conflicting project estimates ranging from $12 billion to $20 billion. The government is expected to receive 10% of project revenue, while the financing costs of 5,000 housing units would be recovered from its share. The lack of transparency deepened on October 26, 2026, when Parliament rejected a proposal to disclose the agreement by 45 votes to 10. Former Maldivian Vice President Mohamed Jameel Ahmed warned against Alabbar's alleged attempts to influence public opinion, declaring that the Maldives' sovereignty and national identity are not for sale. Eagle Hills' controversial involvement in Serbia's Belgrade Waterfront project has further intensified concerns about exceptional privileges and long-term concessions benefiting the developer. At the heart of the controversy lies a fundamental question: Will land reclaimed to house Maldivian citizens be transformed into a lucrative Emirati real estate empire generating profits for decades, while the decisive terms of the agreement remain hidden from public scrutiny? Attention ‼️ Crucial finding. The people trying to buy Maldivian islands and lagoons for cheap prices, while paying huge commissions to Maldivian politicians, are all from the same group. Two deals. One bank board in Dubai. Mohamed Alabbar chairs Zand Bank. Talha Alhashimi sits on its board. These are the ultra rich looking to setup their own kingdom in smaller nations. Muizzu is prepared to sell the nations soul with Salaf x Nasheed backing. Subhanallah

لم يكفينا مايحدث في السودان ولم يكفينا ماحدث في اليمن ولم يكفينا ماحدث مع الجزائر واليوم المالديف ! المالديف توجه رسالة لاذعة الى #الامارات
The tactics employed by Mohamed Alabbar and Eagle Hills to influence public opinion over Ras Malé are all too familiar. Mr Alabbar, @mohamed_alabbar, the Maldives has been a Muslim nation for centuries. Our faith, sovereignty and national identity are not for sale. You may believe money can buy influence over the @MMuizzu administration, but do not mistake the government’s willingness to accommodate your ambitions for the consent of the Maldivian people. We will never allow our religious unity, national security or sovereignty to be compromised by foreign interests. We deeply respect the UAE, its people and its leadership, but that respect must be mutual. Do not underestimate our resilience and determination to defend our nation. @UAEEmbassyMale @MohamedBinZayed

Sir. Looks like RasMalé is NOT an economic project. It's a religious humanitarian charity. That's why it has no acquisition, down payment, no tax, Only HADHIYAA to bosses. That's why there is no cost benefit ! It will send all Maldivians to HEAEN in the LONG RUN. Dhee?
The central question we need to ask, and one the Government of #Maldives should answer, is whether the proposed Eagle Hills development offers the Maldives a fair and sustainable economic return, considering the national assets, development rights, public commitments and long-term obligations involved.

Hey @grok according to a WikiLeaks document (cable 07ABUDHABI97) from a meeting between Mohammed bin Zayed of UAE and Nicholas Burns in January 2007, UAE Leader repeatedly indicated that he would have some of his citizens "turned into mincemeat" if they raised certain topics publicly.

What’s not right?? The fact that on the busy weekends, MTCC is not running enough buses to cater for the demand?? You think he cares? He’s the one controlling work permits. He’s part of the problem if there are too many foreign workers

It's honestly hard to tell if this is India or Bangladesh. Expats have basically taken over the daily commute.. We have a problem & calling it out isn't xenophobic!
