In the recording, an officer can allegedly be heard ordering a subordinate to fire an RPG at a house. What is an RPG? RPG stands for Rocket-Propelled Grenade. It is a shoulder-fired weapon that launches an explosive projectile using rocket propulsion. It is worth remembering that the RPG-7 is a rocket launcher, not an ordinary firearm. It is part of the Pakistani military’s weapons inventory. Its explosion can also kill or injure ordinary civilians. However, under the laws of war, deliberately targeting civilians is prohibited. Weapons that are prohibited from being used against civilians even in times of war are allegedly being used against innocent, peaceful and unarmed civilians in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir. We appeal to human rights organisations across the world to raise their voices against this fascism. The ruling elite of Pakistan and Pakistani security forces are committing genocide against the people of Kashmir. Even as we carry the bodies of our loved ones, we continue our struggle peacefully and remain committed to our cause. The people of the region deserve safety, dignity, justice and respect for their fundamental rights. The loss of innocent lives must never be ignored, and peaceful demands for rights and justice must be addressed without violence or intimidation. 6 NOVEMBER – JAMMU MARTYRS’ DAY | BLACK DAY On this day, we remember the hundreds of thousands of Muslims who were massacred, displaced and subjected to horrific violence in Jammu during October–November 1947 under the Dogra regime. 79 years later, the struggle for justice, dignity and fundamental human rights continues. Today, as we remember the victims of 1947, we also mourn those reportedly killed by security forces in Rawalakot on 5 November 2026, where three peaceful protesters lost their lives and more than a dozen others were injured while demanding the implementation of four agreements signed with the authorities. The remembrance of past atrocities must be accompanied by a commitment to prevent further bloodshed. Honourable Speaker Sahib, Remembering the victims of the Jammu massacres of 1947 must mean more than paying tribute to those who lost their lives. It must also mean standing up for justice, human dignity and the protection of innocent lives in Azad Jammu & Kashmir today. Since 5 June 2026, more than 100 people have been killed in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Most recently, on 5 November, three peaceful protesters were killed and more than a dozen injured by security forces in Rawalakot while demanding the implementation of four agreements signed with the authorities. How can we commemorate the victims of 1947 and speak of justice, dignity and human rights while remaining silent about the loss of lives in Azad Jammu & Kashmir today? As Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly, you have a responsibility to ensure that these incidents are subjected to parliamentary scrutiny, that an independent investigation is conducted into the killings since 5 June, and that those found responsible are held accountable. The Assembly must also demand answers from the government regarding the failure to implement its signed agreements and the use of force against peaceful protesters. The sacrifices of 1947 cannot be honoured through speeches and commemorations alone while the lives and fundamental rights of the people remain at risk today. The people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir deserve justice for the past, accountability in the present and protection for the future.
