Calling it now. AI is going to usher in a whole new era of software development. I’m calling it Software as a Service. People will want to use these tools but they’ll realize they don’t want to spend the time to maintain and update them over time. This will create a whole new category of businesses and entrepreneurs that can take on that task for businesses that would rather work on their core products. AI is changing everything. This is a whole new paradigm of thinking about the way we interact with software.
i have no time to maintain all my vibe coded tools we need a business model where someone else maintains the code and i just pay a monthly fee

Claude has gotten good enough that you can build legit professional software for ~$20k in tokens, unfortunately the TAM for these products has also shrunk to $20k.

Many GTM problems aren't GTM problems. They're "we built something nobody urgently needs" or “we don’t understand our users” problems wearing GTM clothing. I said what I said.

cannot be emphasized enough how many stories I’m hearing around agent orchestration psychosis more than ever it is necessary to be disciplined with offline reset time; you will go crazy if your brain believes that you have to constantly be kicking off agents to survive

very weird thing happening rn technical people are sad, they think their skills are now useless non-technical people are desperately wishing they were more technical so they could use agents better

UPDATE: Yet another sign of how fast stuff can come together in these crazy times, earlier I joked at a security-conscious friend — who once tested an AI app of mine by asking it to do unrelated prompts — that I'd made sure DragonGen defended itself against prompt injection. Then I realized, wait, this is a good use case for a decision model like @typesafeai Jev. If you enter text in the 'storyteller mode' text fields, we use @aisdk's `experimental_decide` function + Jev and if your input is 80%+ likely to be instructions, not story contributions, enforcement dragons are dispatched to your house. (Are they pink, cute dragons? Evil, red firebreathing dragons? That's up to the LLM. Nondeterminism at work!) I did eval Jev vs @OpenAIDevs Decisions API, powered by GPT-6 Luna. Both performed about the same, with Jev marginally faster and cheaper. In other news, I demoed the new app for my 12 year old and she likes the colors but is not impressed by AI. 🤷 Gen Alpha, amirite?
Continuing my small, weird quasi-Launch Week, today I shipped a major update to my smallest, weirdest AI project: the Dragon Generator.

it's so crazy how for years we as an industry went on about empathy maps, persona designs, user journeys, wireframes, only for everyone to become obsessed with the idea of one-shotting interfaces with artificial intelligence.

The app is set in @djrrb's Roslindale and @OHnoTypeCo's Polymath, with D20 Mode using Polymath's weirdest stylistic alts as the 'voice' of the AI-powered dungeon master.

Anyway, this was a fun way to spend a day. And I do mean one day — this app was broken at 9am Eastern and reimagined by 5:30pm. It's at dragongenerator.fun. Don't make me regret leaving it open to the public. 🤣
