Not a surprise to me that @LDoerkson would select @DPinBC -- both are very kind, calm, mature, intelligent people who will never get too high or too low. Of course they would get along and see B.C.'s challenges in a similar way.
Great pick.

.@LDoerkson says: “The campaign is over. Governing is our focus now and governing is a different job… as of today you represent every single person in the province and in your riding. The people who voted for us, and against us and the people who didn’t vote at all.”

Premier-Designate Lorne Doerkson addresses his caucus at its first meeting. Subject to recounts, 63 MLAs — many meeting for the first time. Says the focus now is governing not campaigning, and they represent everyone in their riding, even those who don’t vote for them. #bcpol

Vancouver’s Chinatown has always held a special place in my heart. Having begun my broadcasting career here as a new immigrant, I am proud to have supported the @VanChinatownFdn and @Chinatown_SC since Day One.
It was especially meaningful to stand alongside our leader, @LDoerkson as he chose Chinatown as one of his first community engagements following our historic election.

It says something about where politics has been in BC and Canada that a simple expression of decency to an opposition MLA by Lorne Doerkson can go viral.
Congratulations to Jennifer Whiteside on being named Interim Leader of the BC NDP.
I sat across the floor from her for a long time and she is a serious person who works hard for the people she represents.
A good opposition makes for a better government, and I expect her to hold us to account while we get to work delivering what we promised British Columbians.

The developed world is hurtling towards a public debt crisis, led by the United States, and almost no one is talking about it.
When I helped to launch the Canadian Taxpayers Federation in the early 90s, there was deep and growing anxiety about growing public debt here, in the US, and our peer democracies. That helped create the political conditions for Canada's hugely successful fiscal retrenchment in the mid 90s, led by Alberta, and ultimately adopted by the Chretien government.
If the developed world does not confront the growing public debt disaster, accelerated by aging populations, we will reap the whirlwind.

Quel cheminement! Lecture fortement suggérée.

Good to sit down with Chief Wayne Sparrow of the Musqueam Nation earlier this week. We discussed its history, challenges and opportunities to work together.
As the Nation marks Musqueam Day today, I look forward to continuing our discussions when I visit the community.

A bittersweet moment to close up my Constituency Office. I am happy to see a new Conservative government in Victoria but sad I’ll not actively be a part of exciting changes! Cheering from sidelines guys!

Hey @PremierScottMoe let’s make a little wager on the CFL playoff game tomorrow. After the @BCLions win, I will give you a Lions jersey at our first official meeting.
In the very small chance the Riders win, I’ll reluctantly accept a @sskroughriders jersey from you.

Gosh! What chaos!
NEW — I've been informed by a reliable source within the BC NDP that there is "massive internal outrage" over caucus' decision to publicly recommend Jennifer Whiteside as interim leader before the provincial council approved.
The body with the sole constitutional authority to select an interim leader is set to meet at 6pm.

A lot of families, entrepreneurs, young people, employers and seniors also deserve an apology from Dave Eby.
NEW: Niki Sharma tells reporters there was tears at yesterday’s outgoing NDP caucus meeting. Says David Eby apologized to caucus. She’s not sure whether an interim leader will be appointed today at the new caucus members meeting. #bcpoli

Congratulations to Premier-elect Lorne Doerkson and the BC Conservatives on a strong majority win!
