Har vært gjest i Trygdekontoret, der jeg og Thomas Seltzer diskuterte min nye bok, "USA: En nekrolog?" Jeg fikk til og med inn et par setninger i samtalen, det er derfor Thomas ser så trist ut.

An excellent thread that highlights the importance of local news to understand the US from coast to coast and everything in between. National newspapers are great, but local newspapers are absolutely essential.

Worth noting MSNOW has never asked a single politician what their plan was to protect Muslims or to promote “Muslim safety”. I studied the past three years from ten major media outlets and found Jewish safety was mentioned 4,200% more than Muslim/Arab safety, at 254-to-6
MSNOW: What is your message now to Jewish voters nationally and what you will do to protect them?
Abdul El-Sayed: I’m committed to Jewish safety, and we are united against discrimination. The U.S. spends billions to carry out genocide and apartheid against Palestinians. The genocide in Gaza with our complicity is continuing right now. Nobody wants to talk about that.

amazing to me, a day after the 2026 midterms. from 2024
1. Convince Roy Cooper to run in NC
2. Finally unseat Susan Collins in Maine
3. Hope Sherrod Brown can pull off a comeback in Ohio
4. Somehow win Texas? Get Peltola to run in Alaska? 🤷♂️

There is one group of Americans who have every right to have lost faith in the American Experiment and the possibility of change through democracy. African Americans have been murdered, tortured, denied equal rights and protection simply for being Americans who wanted to be treated equally and vote.
When they lost elections, they didn't storm the Capitol in a violent attempt to throw out results.
They organized, registered more voters and kept faith with the promise of America.
Yesterday, that faith once again made history.

Weird, I didn’t see @JDVance mention #1 in his post

The question on university campuses should now be how to get rid of all the administrators who caved to and collaborated with a grossly unpopular political agenda, including curricular changes, reversals on diversity mandates, buying into AI hype, clamping down on Gaza protests…

There will now be a temptation in many parts of Europe, including the UK, to think that things will eventually go back to normal with the US and that Europe can stop its reluctant shift towards strategic autonomy. That would be a serious mistake.

I could not be more thrilled: Allie Phillips just won her race for Tennessee House District 75. Allie is the first candidate I know of who ran for office after being denied an abortion, and I’m so proud to know her.
As we celebrate the big national wins tonight, don’t forget the local races. And while I hope no other woman ever has to go through what Allie did, if they do—I hope they run and take these assholes’ seats.

The Democratic margin of victory in the overall national vote for House seats is expected to be about 13 percentage points, per @nytimes projection, the largest that either party has lodged in a congressional election since at least 1976. nytimes.com/2026/11/04/us/po…

Gina Hinojosa met with Beto O’Rourke before running. "Not one person can win Texas," he told her. "It has to be two." She and Talarico ran as a ticket, each appealing to different areas and demographics. Together, they changed what’s possible in Texas. theatlantic.com/politics/202…

Tonight, I make a solemn promise to every single Texan. Whether you voted for me or Governor Abbott, or felt so betrayed by a broken politics that you did not vote at all.
Hear what Texas said today, loud and clear: Your government belongs to you. And as your governor, I will never forget it. There will be no special set of rules for the wealthy and powerful. No looking the other way when someone in my own party does wrong.
The trust you have placed in me tonight is not a blank check. It is a sacred responsibility. And I intend to earn it every single day.

Remember when all the Big Tech, Wall Street, Big Law, media, and universities bent the knee to Trump? That was less than two years ago.
“I don’t want to be just sitting there for two years vetoing everything.”
