News -DC Politics - “Independent” DC Council member Christina Henderson (at-large) is looking at switching her affiliation to “Democratic” once Robert White vacates his Democratic seat, roiling the politics of filling the seat he’s held. Asked Tuesday for comment, Henderson’s office said she doesn’t comment on rumors.

I'm also voting against this because I hate that DC's ballot initiative system has become a playground for out-of-state progressive groups seeking national attention for their causes.

This is where I am. The principle of putting another regulation on our restaurant industry when it is struggling so much just rubs me the wrong way.
Besides @whiteguyfieri, most DC chefs have been publicly quiet about the foie gras ban. @chefjoseandres says something I’ve been hearing behind closed doors. They worry it’s just another hurdle for restaurants when there are bigger issues at play (and diners can just go to VA/MD)

What backslash Jessica? 🧐😇So we are banning all meats? If Duck goes all goes next? …I’ve been through this in California…..just lets concentrate on things that matter…..cars with children are being shot by ICE, immigrants working in farms and restaurants being deported many with green cards and even citizens…so many other issues! Yes let’s bring the ducks now….one more issue for restaurants to handle!😅🕊️

Guys, this foie gras ban is so sloppily written that it would ban Jewish delis from selling chopped chicken liver.
Absolutely vote no on this shit.

Legit curious: When does an “operational fee” just become a menu price increase? A longtime restaurant’s menu adds 6% for wages, I-82, insurance, inflation and supply costs. If those are the costs of running the restaurant, why are they a separate charge? @jsidman @tomsietsema
The salmon is listed at $35.95. Add the 6% “operational fee” and it’s $38.11 before tax. The menu says the fee isn’t a tip, and hopes to drop it if “conditions improve.” What would have to improve? And how would diners know?
Don’t get me wrong I was a @DNC @TheDemocrats staffer in the 2008 presidential election and spent all my time ensuring Obama was elected. But John McCain was a decent person. Sad to see how far the GOP has drifted in the last 18 years.

Nothing says "we have total control of the Strait of Hormuz" like a deal to import diesel from a war criminal.
Seriously @AmericanAir you’ll snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. AA flight 374 DCA to @PHXSkyHarbor landed at 8:44 am. It’s now been 29 mins and we are still sitting on the tarmac and not at the gate yet. Folks are going to start missing connections. Get us to our gate.
finally made it to our gate 32 mins after landing. Nothing like flying 4 /12 hours across the country. Then sitting on the tarmac for 32 mins waiting for your gate to open. This is gate management scheduling issues. Cue the typical response “we thank you for your patience.”
Thanks for making this a super stressful connection @AmericanAir as i am still sitting on the plane waiting to deplane. Argh.

I would like to hear our Catholic Vice President explain why they're intentionally choosing to broadcast the death of a human being for the entire world to see, including children.

Relying on parking/traffic tickets to balance budgets is not the point of a ticket. Tickets are supposed to price out (and/or prevent) antisocial behavior that is non-criminal (or less criminal). @RobertWhite_DC is saying that he is ok with this behavior.
Amid cost of living, should D.C. cut parking ticket fines by HALF? Council member Robert White is proposing that right now.
"We cannot balance the District's budget based on parking tickets," White says.
White's proposal is coming at an interesting moment. He wants to attach his parking fees cut to a colleague's separate bill that would expand parking enforcement in colleges and business districts. Lot of background friction between members who want to find more revenue for programs and others worried about rising costs for residents.
