Yep which is also why any regs/tax changes need to be accompanied with rent controls, a very simple to the 'secondary effects' and if landlords want to sell up council should get first dibs with a healthy discount
Landlord bellyaching can be reduced down to: "You made me do my job, I'm putting the rent up" Or when using property management intermediaries: "You made the company I pay to do my job for me do my job, I'm putting the rent up"

What dragged the US off the bottom in the 1930s and prepared the way for the energy shift and the new economy? The operative words here are in ChatGPT's fourth box. PUBLIC INVESTMENT. You know, what the 'bond market' says we can't have.
I gave Claude (left) and ChatGPT (right) exactly the same prompt. Here's the visual each one generated to summarize Galbraith's terrific essay. ineteconomics.org/perspectiv…

This is the reddest of red flags. So many young people are flocking to the Greens because the other parties offer neoliberalism (or fascism) and they've been screwed over by neoliberalism their whole lives. Othering them by calling them the "hard left" is disgusting.

This you?
My weekend column on Westminster’s army of sofa Kremlinologists. Tooled up with strong coffee and confirmation-bias, they like nothing more than election speculation, safe in the knowledge that, like a clock that stops every five years, they’ll eventually be right. inews.co.uk/news/when-there-…

Twitter/X is the internet equivalent of Speakers Corner. If you go to Speakers Corner and say something controversial and divisive, 80% of people there will ignore you, 10% will support you vociferously and the other 10% will contradict you vociferously. That latter 10% isn't "bullying". If you perceive it to be, there are ways of avoiding it by limiting who can see your posts to only the people you follow and/or limiting those who can reply. As an aside, there is also a well-known social media phenomenon called "torrancing" - no-one is quite sure of the origins of the term - whereby a commentator will make a deliberately divisive and even offensive comment, then sit back waiting for the 10% of naysayers who respond vociferously to reply. Once they have, they post again on social media complaining about "How awful supporters of X, Y or Z are when all I said was [underplayed mischaracterisation of original post] and now look at them all insulting me!" giving hand-picked examples of the worst of the responses as somehow representative of a whole class of people. That's a very disingenuous, intellectually-dishonest tactic, and one I am sure you would never dream of using.

Can you be specific about which comment here your considering abusive? Of the 25 present currently the worst one is calling Ramsway a wimp. Rupert’s own responses aren’t exactly resounding polite, here he is joking about a school being bombed.

AstraZeneca CEO eyes record £28m pay package bonanza, up from £17.7m. Previously, AstraZeneca CEO threatened to deny drugs to the NHS unless it paid more. Govt capitulated. Blackmail works, delivers high rewards for shareholders and execs. thisismoney.co.uk/money/mark…

Everything you said is evil manipulation and lies. I am a human. Guatemalans who gave land to the landless people in 1952 were HUMAN BEINGS HELPING OTHER HUMAN BEINGS. The US empire labels them "commies" and destroys the country and murders people. And you defend that. Scum.

Under Lucas & Ramsay we were just token environment reps to be ignored on panel shows (on the rare occasion they invited us at all) to give the illusion of balance. The party isn’t being destroyed; it’s evolving, growing & making an impact at long last.

Also what the press did with the SNP. The lads used to complain the SNP was a smooth, impenetrable sphere of anti-media hostility, because everyone in it fully understood that the press are not their friends. And then, Alex Salmond got arrested for years of grabbing women’s arses
I saw this happen in Labour in real time. A new Party Leader that inspires tens of thousands of young people to join the party who are then accused by the party establishment of being "infiltrators" "extremists" and "hard left" for having the temerity to hope and organise for something different. #bbclaurak

Capitalism is the only system available because it's the ONLY system the capitalists allows. So yeah the "best system available" and also the "worst system available" at the same time. And it's a bad system for the people.
Replying to @JohnRad15
And yet it is the best system available. Every single collectivist economic system in the history of the world has produced nothing but misery and suffering for the people. As the government’s influence has grown in the USA, we have less of a free market and people like this are allowed to prey on the people. The problem is big government and always has been.

It’s facinating how liberals dont see themselves as being dogmatic and inflexible, unwilling to compromise. Simply because when they behave this way, there will be plenty of establishment reassurances and head pats. You lost the debate, it is over.

Well. We shall see what Adrian says - I hope this is misreporting. But can we be clear that there is no contradiction between speaking out for human rights and for nature. Why on earth would environmentalists tolerate genocide? Humans being nature after all! People and planet. Both.
🚨 NEW: Green MP Adrian Ramsay will go public on Sunday to criticise Zack Polanski's leadership and claim the party been taken over by pro-Palestinian activists who have replaced its environmental values

The supreme irony is, the very reason Adrian Ramsey is on Kuennsberg is because Zack Polanski has put the Greens at the heart of the UKs political debate, rather than floundering around at the margins - like it was when Adrian was leader - being completely ignored by Kuenssberg.

.@TheGreenParty’s “crossroads” moment was the leadership election between @ZackPolanski vs @EllieChowns & @AdrianRamsay. People voted overwhelmingly. If Adrian believes that’s now changed, and the significant increase of members want HIS vision, he should challenge. #bbclaurak
