I’ve had enough of the so-called small-government crowd demanding to spend other people’s money to keep the failed war on drugs alive. The sense of entitlement is even worse when you consider that they don’t have to grow the plant, buy the plant, or consume the plant—yet they insist on forcing the rest of us to pay for DEA raids, prison cells, and inflated police budgets to keep it banned. That’s not “free,” that’s authoritarian welfare for the state. They want control over other people’s lives for free, and they want it enforced through government power so they never have to do the work of persuasion or bear the cost themselves. The war on drugs has created a class of authoritarians with the snobbishness and entitlement of royalty but none of the moral authority to go with it. The worst of all worlds.
