It's been 32 years since Democrats won a statewide race in Texas. So what would a win for them on Tuesday even look like?
The answer could vary depending on candidates' particular strengths and weaknesses. But as a general rule of thumb, they'll want to hit these marks:

El-Sayed lost to Whitmer by 22 points in 2018. Seven years later, he launched a Senate campaign with four staffers, often speaking to near-empty rooms.
15 months later, he overcame more than $60 million in spending to win. My final dispatch from Detroit:

You may have seen Pep Guardiola’s prophetic statement from last October.
“At the World Cup will be the best Rodri and next season will be the best Rodri,” he said during the Spain midfielder’s ongoing recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee that, in the end, kept him out of action for around 15 months.
There have been figures around Manchester City, and even around the Spain camp this summer, that doubted whether the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner could get back to his previous standards.
Perhaps all that was required was the kind of patience Guardiola had highlighted. On Sunday, Rodri captained Spain to World Cup glory and won the Golden Ball, the award given to the tournament’s best player.

I had a bad dream last night that the Celtics traded Jaylen Brown for a 36 year old who played 37 games last year and is widely regarded as having the worst contract in the NBA…

I was going to wait a few days before publishing this, but alas.
Jaylen Brown means so much more to the city of Boston than most will realize, and I had a front-row seat to it for the past 3 years:

Reports of Vegas' death are greatly exaggerated.
While the middle class cuts back on extras, wealthy tourists keep showing up. The share of visitors from families making over $150k recently doubled.
The pattern echoes what's happening across the US:
