What can be asserted without evidence, can also be dismissed without evidence. ⭕ On the same day the incident was reported by social media, Map Dr Abdillahi Hasshi Abiib ( @MPDrAbib ) accused the people of Awdal of being behind it. ⭕ His post also encouraged Oromo elites to target everyone who challenged their aggression and territorial expansion in Moyale and Hudet. ⭕ Awdal's elders and intellectuals have maintained that those responsible for the targeting are not from their community and that the incident was orchestrated by external forces. Will Dr Abib apologize to the people of Awdal for this accusation and publicly condemn the ongoing state-sponsored war against the people of Moyale and Hudet @MPDrAbib @ProfHusseinWar @MohamoudGaildon @BestSeller2026 @ManderaBlogger @BashirHashiysf @AminaMaandeeq @OAbraar @KAGAMEAL @Hassa23851483
Fact-Check: The Reported Attacks on the Oromo Community in Borama ⭕️ On 29 October 2026, social media reported attacks targeting Oromos in Borama, with images and videos showing houses on fire. The incident was reportedly linked to the on-going conflict in the Moyale and Hudet woredas (districts) in the Ethiopia's Somali region, involving heavily armed forces from Ethiopia's Oromo region. ⭕️ On 30 October 2026, the Awdal Security Committee and Borama Administration issued a statement saying that no one had been killed or injured. They apologized, stating "We apologise for what happened to our brothers [Oromos]. Such actions are not part of the culture of the people of Borama, and this is something entirely new to us." They also stated that, the damage was limited to homes that they [Oromos] had left or moved out of. The full video is available here 👇youtube.com/watch?v=X_fmLU9V… ⭕️ The statement raises several critical questions about the incident, including: What exactly happened? How did the authorities respond? How many houses were damaged or looted? Where the houses already unoccupied? Most importantly, What do they mean by saying "The damage was limited to homes that they [Oromos] had left or moved out of"? who organized or was behind these attacks? ⭕️ Given that the incident was reportedly linked to the on-going war on Moyale and Hudet woredas (districts) in the Ethiopia's Somali region, which involves heavily armed forces from Ethiopia's Oromo region, it’s important that the @_AfricanUnion @IGADsecretariat and international community work together to end the violence against residents of Moyale and Hudet, and prevent cross-border tensions and conflicts in the Horn of Africa. @UN_SPExperts @AmnestyEARO @AmnestyUK @ida_sawyer @DRovera @EIshmael_ @ChathamHouse @kenyaaxis @AhmedSolHoA @AhmedAbdiIsse1 @Salim8Said @AbdiAbdinur @BillowKerrow @FarahMaalimM @Abdirik @ManderaBlogger @DirreOnline @radiodaljir @KaramaraTv @SpotonSomalia @foziaaosman @ay_has @hassanabdirahm8 @Hassa23851483

Check out 𓆩9K • OG𓆪 🟩🟦🟥★'s video! #TikTok vt.tiktok.com/ZSgnpknCB/. Let’s not repeat the mistakes of yesteryears. PM Abiy Ahmed has not learnt any worthy lessons from the days of Menelik, Haile Sellassie, Mengistu & Meles Zenawi. Mesmerized by the numbers of his ethnicity Abiy believes he is the next Emperor & should wield absolute Power in Ethiopia. Unfortunately at this rate he is doomed & will watch over the dissolution of Ethiopia as we know it today.

JaWar what you don’t understand and will never understand is the bravery of the Tigrayan people. The bravery of the Amhara people. The bravery of the Oromo heroes that saved Ethiopia from the Italian fascism! TPLF is a troubled organization. This is obvious but Abiy Ahmed and the crazy Oromuma elites will never ever conquer the North! You can tweet until the cows come home. You cannot change anything! You can try to bury the news about the massacre of Orthodox Christians but the world is aware. You are and have been the advocate of the death of civilians. You will be held responsible!
The Wounded Pride: A Reversal of Fortune Two photographs, two different moments in Ethiopia’s military history. The first shows Major General Yohannes Woldegiorgis (John Medid) beside a captured ENDF colonel during the 2020–2022 Tigray war, when he was celebrated as a war hero. The second shows the same general, once a symbol of military victory, after reportedly surrendering to the ENDF on 26 October 2026. I once used the expression “wounded-pride generals” in a media discussion to describe some of the military leaders commanding the ENDF. I was referring to officers who had previously been captured by the TPLF during the armed struggle against the Derg, and how those experiences were subsequently used for political propaganda, humiliation and psychological warfare. Looking at these two photographs brings that discussion back to mind. But beyond the reversal of military fortunes lies a much more painful reality. Ethiopia's civil wars and successive armed conflicts have cost countless young lives. Generations have been sacrificed, families devastated, communities displaced, and the country's future undermined by cycles of violence. The generals may rise as heroes one day and surrender another. The roles of captor and captive may reverse, but what remains unchanged is the enormous price the Ethiopian people continue to pay. The real tragedy is not who captures whom, but how many more lives Ethiopia must lose, how many families must suffer, and how much of the country's future must be sacrificed before this cycle of war ends.

Fact-Check: The "Geda Operation" in Moyale and Hudet Woredas, Somali Region, Ethiopia 1. Since 21 October 2026, Moyale and Hudet districts of the Somali region are under attack by armed groups from Ethiopia's ethnic group and Oromo region, including the Oromo Special Forces (Oromo Liyu Police), Geda Commando, Repelola militia, regular police, OLF/OLA, Qeerroo Haromsa, and other groups. These forces and groups are using Ethiopian army vehicles, uniforms, weapons, communication, and basis as well. 2. The objective behind this operations "Geda Operation" is to drive non-Oromos communities from Moyale Ethiopia and then use Moyale as strategic gateway to destabilize Kenya and to control Lamu port. 3. Such developments raise questions about state authority and accountability. If state sources, army equipment, and security personnel are being used to support these operations, the federal government of Ethiopia (if it can indeed be considered a functioning government) must clarify its role, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure the protection of civilians. 4. Such circumstances indicate a serious failure of governance or possible complicity by state institutions in the country. 5. Based on these developments, there are serious concerns that those behind the on-going attacks on Moyale and Hudet will not stop at the Ethiopia's border, but may extend their activities beyond Ethiopia's borders, fuelling ethnic conflicts and broader regional instability. Therefore, neighbouring countries (Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Eritrea, and Djibouti) should remain vigilant, safeguard national unity and safety of their populations, and take coordinated preventive actions before the situation escalates into a wider regional crisis. Everyone cares when it’s too lat. @_AfricanUnion @IGADsecretariat @ChathamHouse @kenyaaxis @AhmedSolHoA @AhmedAbdiIsse1 @AbdiAbdinur @BillowKerrow @FarahMaalimM @Abdirik @ManderaBlogger @DirreOnline @radiodaljir @KaramaraTv @UN_SPExperts @AmnestyEARO @AmnestyUK @ida_sawyer @DRovera @EIshmael_ @EIshmael_ @SpotonSomalia @foziaaosman @ay_has @hassanabdirahm8 @Hassa23851483 @faisalroble19

The use of state forces and diplomatic missions to advance tribal expansionism and territorial domination will not succeed in the 21st century. Lasting peace can only achieved through peaceful coexistence, dialogue, and recognition of the rights and dignity of all communities. The path for state-building is not tribal domination or aggression, but good governance, understanding, justice, and reconciliation. The expansion ideology expressed by some individuals (TPLF orphans) who claim "We control Ethiopia, we have the guns, and it is now or never for expansion" poses a serious for peace, stability, and security in the Horn of Africa. Everyone cares when its too late. @dervishconan @Abdirik @AbdiAbdinur @AhmedAbdiIsse1 @amggebre @fo
MOYALE:- THE INEDIBLE FRUIT. The Moyale issue is a wake-up call to all Somalis irrespective of clan, or ountry. When ABIY Ahmed's regime cancelled the special 40-40-20 power sharing arrangement of DireDawa Administration in a dramatic Move in a shame "conference" to rubber-stamp the Oromo sinister ambitions whom he is serving as a flag bearer with little or no opposition to the proposal, it was clear that huge areas of the Somali regional State could be targeted by his goon's in Oromia regional State as "theirs". That pessimism has materialized but now in the wrong choice. Moyale is an inedible fruit for ABIY Ahmed's OROMMUMA crowd. Moyale is and has been a Somali territory since it's inception. However, after the ethnic federalism was promulgated in Ethiopia the then EPRDF administration following a claim raised by Oromos, decided ton a political arrangement that could settle the armed conflict in the area. Five years ago, ABADULA GEMEDA, former Oromia president, in an interview with OMN confessed the Somali ownership of the town, to which "boranas leaved in the sorrounding countryside" he added. However, the Somalis agreed to the halve-halve arrangement where the Eastern half was administered by Somali and western half by the borana. Albeit, all that compromise, BORANA claim to the renewed after Abiy Ahmed came to power. They say the"moment you settle for less than you deserve, you will get even less than you settled for". The borana prodded up by ABIY Ahmed laid a claim to the entire town. Somalis said no and never. That culminated to the recent attacks by Oromos militias attacking not only the town, but the entire Dawa zone of Somali regional state. Their claim was upgraded from Moyale town to the entire zone. Six days of fighting ensued, but the Oromos yet have to capture an inch of Somali territory. Then came the cease fire, "a lasting solution" rhetoric. The dice is cast, but rest assured that Moyale shall never be the next Diredawa. Hard lessons had been learnt. Such expansionism Manuevres has no place in today's politics. Theft and forceful annexation of Somali territory must stop with an immediate effect. The rhetoric of "keeping what's in your hand and claiming the rest" can only put fuel into the fire. When the existing so called "Federal government" is not willing to discharge it's responsibility honestly and with equality it's imperative upon every man to defend his family and property. That is a blessed act and is hailed high in every moral ground. If "disgruntled activist turned politician" doesn't want to go with the existing administrative arrangements when he clearly knows that he had the advantages in the initial arrangement, is not contented with "one part of the small town divided by the Asphalt", he has absolutely no rights to stir the peaceful coexistence of the people under the false pretext of "hoisted flag". You knew that the "other halve" of the small town had it's own flag to hoist, but unfortunately, you want your flag hoisted and try to refuse the hoisting of the other. That isn't rational. The question must be, Who are you to deny the hoisting of that other flag, when you are using yours? RESPECT IS TWO WAY TRAFFIC. You respect me and I will do the same. But when you feel that "some animals are more equal than other" and try to achieve some sinister ambitions with goals and means that compromise the rule of law, governmental responsibility, and political arrangements, by FORMENTING Chaotic false flag unrest, tie the hands of security agencies that could have stopped the Carnage and eventually use STATE POWER to grab "the second part of the small town, partitioned by the tarmac road" as a war booty for your clan, then you should know that you have relinquished national responsibilities for clan interests. In such a case, your legal, and morall integrity to continue as A NATIONAL GOVERNMENT COLLAPSES!!

Fact-Check: Contradicted Figures on Moyale's Population and Reported Displacement: 1. On 22 October 2026, heavily armed forces from Ethiopia's Oromo region reportedly attacked Moyale and Hudet woredas (districts) in Dawa zone, Somali region. The attacks displaced thousands of people from both Somali and Oromo communities, forcing them to flee to other parts of Dawa zone (Somali region) and neighbouring Kenya. 2. UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency), UN Relief Agency (UNOCHA), Kenyan authorities, and Oromo politicians in Kenya and Ethiopia reported that between 40,000 and 50,000 people fled from Moyale (Oromo) into Kenya. However, Ethiopia's Central Statistical Agency (CSA) projected Moyale Oromo's population at just 15,181 in 2026. This apparent discrepancy raises questions about the geographical origin of the displaced people and the accuracy and of the reported figures. 3. If both figures refer to the same geographical area and comparable populations, they are incompatible. MOYALE CONFLICT: ETHIOPIA'S FEDERAL BOUNDARIES MUST BE RESPECTED The ongoing conflict in Moyale raises serious concerns about what appears to be a struggle for territorial control, not only of Moyale but potentially of the wider Dawa region of Ethiopia's Somali Regional State. Ethiopia is a federal republic comprising constitutionally recognised regional states, each with defined administrative jurisdictions. The federal arrangement is founded on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and the constitutional rights of its constituent regions. No regional administration should seek to extend its territorial control into another through intimidation, military force or unilateral action. Any territorial or administrative disputes (if any) must be resolved through constitutional mechanisms, dialogue and peaceful negotiation. The pursuit of territorial expansion by the Oromia administration into the Somali Region, with the tacit approval or acquiescence of the federal authorities, is particularly troubling. The attempt to portray the Oromia administration's violence and territorial violations in the Somali Region as the work of unidentified extremist groups, foreign elements and neighbouring countries, without presenting a shred of credible evidence, is unacceptable. Such allegations cannot substitute for a transparent and independent investigation. The Federal Government of Ethiopia has a constitutional responsibility to safeguard the integrity of its regional states, protect civilian populations and ensure that no region exercises undue dominance over another. Ethiopia's unity cannot be sustained through regional hegemony, territorial expansion or the domination of one community by another. It must rest on justice, equality, mutual respect and faithful adherence to the federal constitution. The people of Moyale and the wider Dawa region deserve peace, security and the assurance that their constitutional rights and administrative boundaries will be respected. The fighting must stop, and that responsibility lies with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Civilian lives must be protected. Constitutional order must prevail. Peaceful coexistence, not territorial domination, must define Ethiopia's federal future.

Fact-Check: the reported displacement figures from Moyale, Ethiopia: 1. According to population projections published by Ethiopia’s Central Statistical Agency (CSA) in July 2025, Moyale was projected to have a population of 49,636 in 2026. Of this total, 34,455 people (69.42%) were Somali (Moyale Somali) and 15,181 (30.58%) were Oromo (Moyale Oromo). The report is available on the @UNOCHA's Centre for Humanitarian Data (@humdata) website. 2. Today (26 October 2026), Addis Standard (@addisstandard) reported that the on-going conflict in Moyale, which began on 22 October had forced thousands of residents to flee their homes and cited claims that more than 50,000 civilians had crossed into Marsabit County, Kenya. Residents and community elders in Moyale have stated that Ethiopian government forces and affiliated militias (Oromo Special Forces, Geda Commando, and other militias) are responsible for the on-going conflict. 3. If both figures (the figures reported by Ethiopia’s Central Statistical Agency and Addis Standard) refer to the same geographic area and period, the reported displacement figures raises serious questions because it exceeds Moyale’s entire projected population. 4. This discrepancy suggests that either that the Ethiopian Central Statistical Agency's projection is incorrect or Addis Standard fabricated this report with the intent to mislead the Oromo people and the international community and to incite Oromo forces in Ethiopia against the Somali minority in Ethiopia. 5. The appropriate approach would have been to refer to official figures and seek clarification of the geographic coverage, sources and methodology behind the reported figures before publishing such a report. However, these steps not taking into account. #News_Analysis: #Moyale clashes leave trail of death, destruction across seven districts; tens of thousands flee to #Kenya Although initially addressed through discussions among town officials and local elders, the clashes escalated into a wider conflict involving security forces from both regions, heavy machine-gun fire, civilian casualties, the wanton destruction of property, and an intense social media war over competing claims to Moyale’s ownership, further inflamed by unverified allegations on both sides. Residents told #Addis_Standard that schools had closed, electricity and telecommunications services were disrupted, and many people had fled without adequate food, water or shelter. On Sunday, a group of Kenyan leaders issued a joint statement warning of a deepening humanitarian and security crisis in the border region. As of publication, neither the #Oromia nor the #Somali regional government had issued an official statement acknowledging the conflict. addisstandard.com/?p=60599

⭕️ Jowhar is the mastermind behind the on-going ethnic cleaning and forced displacement of Somali communities in the border areas between the Somali and Oromo regions, as well as Amhara Christians in Oromo region. ⭕️ Jowhar cannot advocate for peace while supporting aggressors and blaming the victims. Peace does not mean putting equating the aggressors with the victims, it means ending aggression and expansion, stopping fake news (disinformation), protecting civilians, and addressing the injustice that fuels the violence. ⭕️ Since state-sponsored violence continue to happen in Ethiopia, dismissing the risk of future genocide against ethnic minorities and civilians is dangerously misguided. This is what happens when the wrong individuals lead nations (tribes) and states. Everyone cares when it's too late. #Hawaday #Balbalayti #Qoloji #Moyale #Gedeo #Burayu #GarbaIsse #Jawar #OPDO #Ethiopia @hrw @AmnestyEARO @amnesty @AbdiAbdinur @dervishconan @SpotonSomalia @EIshmael_ @Abdirik @AhmedAbdiIsse1 @awale_saad @faisalroble19 @amggebre @NeaminZeleke @HassanKeynan2 @Hassa23851483 @ay_has @Sitti_Salal_Dji @ElmiYabeh @BubalAbdi
Brother @Jawar_Mohammed , I appreciate your call for peace in Moyale. But how can you call for peace while OBN, your own TV station, spreads fake news about the conflict? Isn’t that a contradiction?

Moyale is a part of Somali Regional State. Why would hoisting of a Somali flag and opening of a regional office in the Somali region be a concern for the Oromo? 𝗛𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗶𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗶𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝘂𝗴𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗺𝘂 𝗷𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗮𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗸𝗮𝗮𝗱𝗮

Abiy Ahmed must stop Oromo expansionism I have been a strong supporter of PM Abiy Ahmed & his style of leadership in Addis. His remarkable success in enhancing freedom in the country, liberalise the economy and protecting the territorial integrity of his nation were particluarly astounding. We’ve stood with him as he fought off those who wanted him out. However, by dint of his failure to rein in his Oromo community from trumpling on the rights of others, he has hugely opened himself up to necessary criticisms. The current invasion of the Somali region by Oromo forces, and the apparent tacit involvement of Abiy regime's special forces and troops on the Oromo side was unprecedented, and a strategic miscalulation. It has galvanised opposition across the Somali region, and far wide accross Ethiopia. Somalis have been his administration's key supporters, and he needs them more on his side in his current war in the North. And Somali region, neglected for long by his predecessors, requires economic development, not war. Why would hoisting of a Somali flag and opening of a regional office in the Somali region be a concern for the Oromo? To any discerning observer, Oromo's long-held expansionist agenda now seems to be on steroids, emboldened by PM Abiy's rise to power. Moyale may be a critical border town, but it is in the Somali region. Attempting to ethnically cleanse its Somali population, or forcefully taking it over is irrational. It's the same script that's being attempted on Zeila' and Assab. It will likely be his administration's Waterloo! Ethiopia needs peace as Africa’s diplomatic hub. Abiy needs to urgently put his thumb on cessation of the agression by his Oromo extremists. In 2019, he won Nobel Peace Prize for ending the border conflict with neighboring Eritrea, facilitating regional diplomacy, and releasing thousands of political prisoners, etc. He should not let his legacy crumble under unnecessary conflicts.
